We had a very outdoorsy wedding that ended with my husband and I staying in our family cottage – which comes with no electricity or water. Based on this, I opted for a tea-length dress. I just didn’t want to end up with blueberry stains and pine needles all over my skirt!

This photo was taken the day after the wedding, for the actual wedding day I had my hair in an up do with inserted pieces of baby’s breath.

I’m not sure if my dress is a typical earthy dress but I think it find our nature filled outdoorsy wedding. It was covered with pink flowers and had a beautiful flow to it.

@Firstthingsfirst:  thank you!! I actual bought an expensive dress and had buyers remorse and sold it, and everyone here when I added a poll said this dress looked like a sundress and I could do much better. I loved my low key dress!! Everyone at the wedding told me they thought it looked expensive too! I was really going for the natural beauty look because I never get dressed up… I’m such a jock/outdoor junkie so i knew I’d feel uncomfortable so dressed up 🙂

For my wedding day, I wanted my dress to be timeless, romantic and slightly etheral. I knew I didn’t want to look too over-the-top, which is great for some, but certainly not anything I could pull off.

Because I couldn’t find a dress out there that was exactly what I envisioned, I had my dress designed and made by a local designer/seamstress. I couldn’t have been happier with the final product. I felt truly beautiful on my wedding day.

I apparently deleted the photos I posted in this thread, so I’ll add these.  I loved my dress – understated, low-key, flattering, and $120 from Macy’s!

I really love the dresses on this thread and have a pretty offbeat and earthy gown to share, so am hoping to revive this thread!

My embroidered dress with blush satin and ivory silk chiffon overlay (very crinkled from being shipped):
