Right. This may be an indelicate post, but I was wondering what people were doing for their underwear under their dress?
So. I have an ample thigh. There is no shame in it, or hiding it – it is a pale English Rose soft white thigh. My problem is (and I find it embarrasing bringing it up even) that my thighs rub together something rotten and I end up with horrible sore rub marks. Normally I wear a pair of tights under my dresses (Yes. All of them – even full length dresses in the middle of summer).
Does anyone else have this problem and what are you going to do for your wedding day? I do not want to have a incredibly sore rubbed thigh for my Wedding Night but am unsure about wearing tights on my wedding day.Coz, let’s face it. They’re not the prettiest.
So…basically what to do? Wear tightsand then change? Wear tights and be like…yeah you’ve known me for 12 years you know my thigh situ, wear all this pretty underwear bits (which is what I want to do but my thighs will be a prob), try to lose a bit of weight to stop the rubbing (though even when I was 2 stones lighter they still rubbed)…or is there some magical solution that I am unawear of? I will probably be dancing til 2am so it needs to be something long term – which is why I was thinking tights then whip em off.I recently found out that fiance REALLY wants a garter (who’d have guessed) so I think he’d appreciate the full trussery on the night. So in the process of buying some nice vintage lace for that. So -a re there any nice tights that look nice and not like grannyness (I am afraid I ususally wear a 80+ denier lol). I want to look nice (for me), feel nice and look nice (for him). So … yeah? Any hints/tips/advice etc

Talc!!!! And lots of – that’s what I did and it worked a treat.

24hr anti persperant deoderant works a treat….especially if you sweat under breasts or under the tummy area. You can also get a small bottle of it and get one of your girls to keep it on them in a bag (then you can re spray if needed).
I lost over 20kg (3 stone, I think) and that helped a lot.

I’m a big girl, my thighs always rub. Talc can help but it’s very likely you’ll sweat so much it’ll run off. Plus talc isn’t good for your lady parts, can cause infections.
Anyways, I bought some “petti-shorts”. They were white cotton shorts and they did wonders. My legs didn’t rub or hurt at all. Plus it was a very hot wedding day and they soaked up some sweat lol

Just wear the tights, and then whip them off. Be comfortable! My BFF wore tights under her dress and was very happy with the choice.

My friend got married last weekend, and for her rehearsal and dinner, I wore a long skirt. My thighs kept rupping together and it was very hard to walk up and down the aisle for the rehearsal. I expressed my frustration to the brides sister, so the day of the wedding she gave me some anti-chafing cream, and it worked great. I didn’t have any problems. If you get very hot during the evening you could always re-apply! Best of luck to you.

What about the shaperwear with legs? Like the longs ones that go over the knee or just above the knee spanxx style. Powder (talc) is helpful but you’ll probaby have to reapply throughout the event.

I bought these and loved them, they’re silky soft and definitely kept my legs from rubbing together. Darling Husband calls them my bloomers 🙂 So, they’re not super sexy, but they’re at least a bit cute 🙂

Go to a sporting goods store of look online for body glide, it looks like a deodorant tube. It is antichaffing used forathletes but works wonders for thighs. Also works wonders on your feet to prevent blisters. I wear a full business suit and heels all week and would die without it.

Spanx has a new mid-thigh slimmer that is made of very soft, wicking fabric. They are wonderful.
Body Glide or Lanacaine’s anti-chafing creams work wonders. I prefer the Lanacaine because it goes on silky smooth. Body Glide I use more for preventing blisters when wearing not so comfortable shoes

Your info is soooo helpful! I have a very strange figure with a small waist and slim torso but with pretty hefty thighs and I have put on weight recently and though I have always had this problem it has been worse recently with the extra weight. I have never spoken to my lady friends about it before because…well I’m typically Englishly tight lipped about things above my knees and below my bellybutton.
It is nice (well you know what I mean – I don’t like your pain!) to know that other people have this problem and that I am not just a freak. Or a wimp who lets things like that bother me.
Thank you so much for putting my mind at rest and helping me out. I’m not getting married til next Aug so I have pleanty of time to practise with things and find what works well with me.
I have tried talc but it always sweats off and usually wear tights but like the petipants and the gels and that so I may even give them a go together 🙂

@mecattacow: Have you tried long stockings with a good suspender belt? If you’ve got a small waist and bigger hips they’ll stay up and with a little trial and error you’ll find stocking that are a perfect fit. I wear stockings with really short suspender straps (so that they sit right up by my knickers) and it’s a really good way of preventing chafing.
I’m pretty sure that would fit in with your fiance’s ideal whilst protecting your thighs.
