Really??  Darn!  How do I hold these puppies up without wires?  Mine aren’t even that big and I would feel like I was flopping all over the place. I can see how it make sense though, because wires do dig in sometimes.

I feel like the alternative would be sports bras?  But I hate the uni-boob thing!  I would prefer to have two distinct boobs!

I haven’t heard of this but now I’m curious.  I’ve been wearing my underwire bras during the day the entire time so far (sports bras at night).  I haven’t gained a ton of weight in my boobs though, just a little so I don’t know if that matters.  Sometimes the underwire is uncomfortable but if that’s the case and I’m home, I just change to the sports bra.

I will just be ruined then, there is no way I could go back to no wire! I am small in that area but my ladies would still feel like there looking at the floor. LOL

@joymarie83:  hahah I like your acceptance of this!! Is this just a rumor? I remember hearing a while back that they caused cancer as well but no evidence ever supported that.

Sounds like a myth to me. Is there any scientific study on this?

Huh, I know you’re not supposed to wear underwire bras while breastfeeding, but I’ve never heard of switching over while pregnant!  Definitely nursing bras are meant to be supportive, but don’t have underwires, so that might be an option…

Any excuse to wear sports bras all the time? I will take it!!

Wow, I would have never even thought of that. I wonder how they came to that conclusion.

I only have two bras that fit me and they are both underwire.  I’m trying to hold out buying new bras until I get nursing bras.  Bras are sooo expensive.

Well that just sounds unfair… you get pregnant, your boobs get huuuuuge (or at least mine did) and then they take away the underwire!?! LOL

But I’ve seen that in a few books. I think it is a little outdated when they recommend no underwire during pregnancy. I have seen it recommended when you are breastfeeding. I think the underwire can press on the milk ducts/glands and cause problems.

I’m not a huge fan of underwire, so I’m fine with it. I have a wire-free bra by Warners that I really like. Several department stores carry them. I’m on the small side, so I don’t know how larger ladies will like them. I try to buy on sale/clearance when I can.
