@rumpunch712:  I think most brides have some level of stress trying on dresses.. and honestly if we were to wait until our bodies looked “perfect”, nobody would ever buy a dress!

Don’t feel too pressured to buy just because they have a sale, but if you do end up finding THE dress, then it’s a great bonus.  Just pretend there’s no sale going on and try on the ones you want to try on (and also let the Consultant give suggestions – sometimes we think we know what styles would look best, but often the objective viewpoints can work out pretty well).

I think it would be really quiet on a Monday morning.  I’ve only been to DB on a Saturday and it was CRAZY busy!  This was to buy the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses and it was just packed full of people.  Generally on weekdays, bridal shops are quiet. I did all my browsing for a dress on weekdays and it was so much better because I ended up being the only one in the shop and the consultant gave me her full and undivided attention.

Good luck and have fun with it!

Only certain dresses are on sale. If you go online and look it shows the ones that are. I went 2 weeks ago when the sale started and ended up walking out with the first dress I tried on over a month ago for only $375! Have fun and I hope you find your dress!

@rumpunch712:

if you are a street size 10 you’ll find lots there…any anywhere really. I am a 10/12 street size and found I could wear at David’s anything from a 10-16 depending on the cut.

The best thing to do in my opinion is go in with a clear mind- don’t let anyone bully you into staying in a dress you simply don’t like and if you’re not feeling it you’re not feeling it. I almost said yes to a dress that looked nice on me, but my facial expression is worth a 1000 words in the photo.

With that though, they do have good sales and are having one now. A monday am appt should be relatively easy going on you- just try to relax and don’t think you HAVE TO FIND the one. I spent about a month looking 4 stores, one a week until I found ‘the one’.

Take a deep breath and go in with an open mind.  You will be FINE!  Have fun with it!  Like PP said-If we all waited until we were comfortable with our bodies to buy a dress we would never end up with one!  You will look amazing no matter your weight.  That’s the beaty of alterations!

@rumpunch712:

also I don’t know your height, but a size 10 is quite healthy you should feel empowered. I used to weigh 300 + lbs around 350 at my heaviest and am at 168 now. I have  a hard time seeing me as me, so that I can understand, but trust me the flaws we see in ourselves very few if any notice. You need to focus really on what will make you happy. If you don’t feel you’re ready for trying on don’t go yet. I have a gf who put on 20 lbs and won’t go right now instead she is making herself eat heathier and do better body positive based things so she can feel more confident in the fitting room.

@rumpunch712:

I understand the arm thing! i am also doing jillian michaels, 48 chair dips a day and yoga 2 hours a week!

I ended up going with a vintage styled dress with sleeves because for some reason it made me happy. I had to go w/not something that was ‘totally’ bridal, but that was me. I get your feelings completely, just remember don’t just buy to buy and also with your photographer see if you can negotiate at all!

i ended up getting ours for 2200 in chicago with e pics and all rights! that’s a steal here.

also, good work on what you’ve done so far, just realize you have to like you the way you are, someone else already does or we both wouldn’t be getting married!

  here is my dress below!

@rumpunch712:  I love the second dress V3448 . If you are in no crunch to get your dress right now I would wait till they run another sale.

@rumpunch712:  If you found something you really like and you got that feeling I would say just buy it because thats the one you will be happy with.

Hey! So i wanted to let you know that this sale has been going on since dec. I know this because i bought my dress. I was worried because i had my appt scheduled for jan 26( when i would have money) and the sale was suppose to end on like jan 18 or something. i knew that i couldnt change my appt based off of money so i just went with it. when i arrived i found out that the sale was still going on!! and ive been watching the commericals and ads since jan 26 and its been non-stop. So hopefully the sale will continue and you wont have to be pressured to buy right away.
