An unexpected guest is coming over for the weekend. You…do what?
We found out yesterday NYC friends wanted to stay at our place. We had offered to host before (particularly because his sister just had a baby up here and I know they want to visit – but not impose on them), so we don’t mind, but had much needed getaway plans set up. It’s a very good friend of Darling Husband (that I knew separately), who always hosts us in his sweet huge place in NYC, so we changed our reservations to next weekend and I’m now cleaning away. (If we couldn’t change them, we would have offered them the keys anyhow. I just would have scrubbed without the anticipation of being able to have fun hanging out.) Had just noted the tub ought to be cleaned the other night, so I scrubbed it, switched the shower curtain for a brand new one I’ve been keeping on hand for a while now, sweeping, tossing out some things in the fridge, recycled extra papers lying around and packed up the recycling to go out, spot dusting, etc. Darling Husband even chipped in doing tonight’s dishes and putting away dishes in the dishwasher.
What about you? Is your place clean enough to host w/o needing to lift a finger (and how do you do that!)? Would you switch your plans? Run out for groceries? Make dinner reservations? Panic?
