Try not to think about water, don’t watch TV (because there is always a waterfall or something).  Really there isn’t any trick it’s just holding it.  Hopefully you won’t have to hold it for very long.

Did she tell you to have a full bladder?  Because they have had me empty mine immediately before each sonogram and that it wasnt necessary to have a full bladder.  Id check with them.  But even still, Ive had mine fill up during an u/s, and it is uncomfortable but its not unbearable.

I agree with KellyV…sometimes they don’t want you to have a full bladder, so definitely check.

However, I needed one for mine, so I just went to the bathroom an hour or so before my appt, and then chugged a bottle of water 15 min before my appt. Worked like a charm.

I’m sure if you drank the water a little closer to the appointment time you’d be fine. I know for me it’d run right through me so I’d have no worries of an empty bladder within a 30 minute window or so.

I hope the sonogram goes well, that’s really exciting that you get to have one now 🙂

Hm.  Id start drinking on the drive there honestly.  They CAN do the u/s without a massively full bladder (I mean, I get them every 30 days or more and all of mine have been totally fine) so drink, then when you get there verify with the receptionist and maybe she’ll let you pee =o)

Good luck today!

huh That’s odd. I thought this early…that you would only do the vaginal kinda. Didn’t think you could get the “belly” kind. Will be intestered to hear how it went.

I agree i would just start drinking on the way to the doctors office (about an hour before the appointment should be good enough). Good luck.

@firsttimemom: That’s neat that you could do both. I thought you had to wait until 12 weeks.

How did it go??!! 🙂
