I am so sorry to hear that you had to go through that! I was considering getting my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses at a “discount” retailer, but I have been hearing stories similar to yours, that I’ll just go through the bridal salon I got my dress from. Good luck, and keep us posted please!

Honestly, I find it hard to believe that you had a bad experience with Amica Bride. I have used them numerous times, and never had a problem with their service or the quality of the dresses.  First time that I used them was when I was Vice-President for my sorority, we needed 91 dresses for Rush, and we needed them quickly.  Kathy was great.  She was able to get Dessy to waive the rush charge.  The dresses were cheap, like $99 each.  With 91 dresses, we did not have a problem.

Then, two years ago, my sister got married and we used After Six and Dessy dresses, Again, we had no problems. A few of my sorority sisters have used them, and I was in one of the weddings, and again NO PROBLEMS!!!

I am getting married in September, and I have ordered 8 Lela Rose dresses.  They came in with no problems.  They are beautiful and I am so excited.

Everytime that I have called Kathy, she has been wonderful, and if I email her, she emails me back.  She helped me out so much with sorority dresses and my wedding. SO I can’t believe that you had a problem with them!!!!

Did you pay with your credit card? Many credit cards have clauses or services built in the protect you from fraud. Call the card company and ask them to dispute the charge, and you may be able to get your money back.

ETA: This reminded me, there was a recent story in my area about a bridal shop that closed suddenly and vacated overnight. Some brides were able to contact the dress manufacturers directly and get their wedding and bridesmaid dresses shipped to them, but others were out of luck. The news said many of the brides who paid with credit and didn’t get their dresses were able to get refunds from their card companies, but the ones who paid cash simply lost the money they paid. Always pay with a card for big purchases!

@AJuneBride:  I’m so sorry this happened to you, but I’m so glad it all worked out in the end and that you found your girls some budget replacement dresses!
