I think he should only wear his uniform if you are having a military wedding as the bride and groom or if the wedding is black tie. Typically military uniforms (as guests) indicate uniforms are ok. I know when my SIL and her husband got married, her dad wore his full dress blues, though. Otherwise he may just really stand out and if he doesn’t care, he may be more comfortable in a tux. From what my husband tells me, dress military uniforms are very uncomfortable and stiff.

Eh, a tux will probably look better. If he hasn’t gone to this academy yet–when are you getting married? Will he be properly trained in how to wear it yet? Also following all the decorum required in uniform? IE he cannot take his jacket off? I dunno if academy uniform rules are the same but i’d imagine they are.

I’d say he wear whatever he wants, just let him decide. My fiance went to the Citadel and I know that while he never wore his uniform to any formal events, there were a good bit of cadets that did. If your not against him looking different than the rest of the party then I’d say go for it if you want it, I don’t think it would look bad.

A military uniform doubles as a suit for any formal occassion, so it would be very appropriate for him to wear it to your wedding.  However, if all the other groomsmen are wearing the same tux, your son should do the same.

Congratulations on your son’s acceptance by the way!

congrats, imo i would say tux, but i can also understand how proud you are and would love to have him in his dress uniform. all the men in my wedding are military or retired military, i told my fh that i wanted the blues, and his answer was that he would rather not, but whatever makes me happy.. lol, so that means the HE isn’t a huge fan

Whatever he wants to do, but I’m more of a uniform girl. I’m making my hubby wear his uniform at our wedding =)
