@Quicksand:  I would think that it should, but I wonder if there will still be some people that will still invite others, change your seat number, or think that others can come in the place of guests who are not able to. I think it’s extremely rude nonetheless for anyone to do that. I just hope it doesn’t happen at ours.

@Quicksand:  I’m considering something similar based on all of the horror stories I’ve read on the Bee.  I guess I didn’t realize it was so common to randomly bring a bunch of uninvited guests, and I honestly think I would panic if we didn’t have enough seats, food, etc. for everyone because of this.  I’d think writing a specific number on the RSVP card would prevent any confusion … At least I’d hope so!

It should. Most people will not be crossing that out to write in more but there might just be that one socially inept fool who does. But you should be safe for the most part! It’s what I plan on doing too.

@Quicksand:  Oh my God, that’s an awful story!  I am thankful that I can be confident that my mom and my fiance’s parents won’t invite a bunch of people to our wedding.  I don’t really think they’d try that anyway, but we’re paying for everything ourselves so it’s a lot easier to say, “No, we don’t have the extra money for 10 more guests.  Sorry!”

Etiquette Snob here…

With this layout… (the opening as you’ve chosen)

Name(s) __________

We have reserved ___ seats in your honor

— — —

You could have (should have) skipped the next part as you’ve laid it out and just gone with the more traditional:

___ Accepts

___ Regrets

Then you would have not left yourself so open to people making changes.

Leaving out the whole “Number” aspect that you’ve now presented in the wording on the Accepts option, would have been the way to go.

In this way most Guests will just fill out the info with their names and often just insert a Check or an Ex as opposed to a number (remembering that they’ve supposedly filled out the appropriate names on the top line)

Do you still have time to change it ?  Or is this now a done deal ?

Hope this helps,
