We got so lucky, my fiance’s friend will be playing guitar at our wedding.  We are really leaving it up to him.  He’s style is alternative and that’s what we want.

We only have 2 songs we wanted him to play.  Yellow by Coldplay and I’ll follow you into the dark.

He said he would make us a list of the songs he comes up with but I trust he’ll find something. I think it will sound so much better if he plays songs he’s most comfortable with.

I shared this on another thread, but this is going to be a solo cond during our ceremony. It had a lot of sentimental meaning to my guy and I. We are going to go the acoustic guitar route for the ceremony and my cousins daughter, who has a beautiful voice is going to sing this. I can’t wait!

The artist is Jess Chalker, from Australia By The Way.

I can’t stand Canon in D, Here Comes the Bride or any other “wedding-y” music, so our entire processional including my walk will be to The Book of Love (Peter Gabriel). All our pre-ceremony music will be contemporary instrumentals by the Vitamin String Quartet, and our recessional is I’m a Believer (Smash Mouth).

Well, while we are still in the pre-engagement phase, we are planning on using a string version of music from Halo 3 as the music that our bridesmaids/groomsmen enter to, and string music from Super Mario Bros. as our recessional.  No ‘Canon in D’ here! 🙂

Love that you’re using Nightwish and even Tarja by herself (If only she hadn’t split lol)

We used an orchestra version of “My Immortal by Evanescence” for the bridal party processional. We got married on December 11th so I walked down the “Christmas Cannon Rock” by Transiberian Orchestra. It has an electric guitar in it and I hit the bottom of the set of stairs to come down the aisle right when it kicked in. LOVED IT! We recessed to “Just the way you are” by Bruno Mars which was DH’s request. He said it reminded him of me the first time he heard it.

*Chuckles* We were…different. My sweetie and I are movie buffs, and I love soundtracks-some of the orchestral music is just gorgeous. So, the music to which people were seated was a collection of favorite soundtrack songs. Let’s see. Lord of the Rings, A Beautiful Mind, Jurassic Park (yes, really) Gladiator, Dances with Wolves, Braveheart, American in President. Bridesmaid processional was a jazzy Cannon in D, then the Bridal March & for the recessional….Indianna Jones. It got the laughter and applause we’d been hoping for, and it was fun for the guests to guess which movie the music came from.

Processional for bridal party and myself will be “Forrest Gump Suite” by Alan Silvestri… instrumental, but beautiful. This was the first movie Fiance & I watched together.

Recessional will be “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars.

Our entire processional (which isn’t very long but still) will be “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz and our recessional will be “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra as a tribute to my grandmother.  I’m still trying to come up with a few songs to play while guests are being seated.

I’m super non-traditional too.  Our friends and family would be weirded-out if I walked to “Here Comes the Bride”.

Bridesmaids/Groomsmen – “Come Away With Me” – Norah Jones

Birdal Processional  – “First Day of My Life” – Josh Radin

Recessional – “Ramblin’ Wreck From Georgia Tech” (I’m an alumna, 3 of my BMs and 2 GMs are and Fiance is transferring in the fall)

All our pre-ceremonial music is pop-ish love songs (Billy Joel “For the Longest Time, for an example).  So looking forward to that day!
