- Wedding: July 2014
We have a unique situation and are doing a non traditional wedding. We are getting legally married in a small priivate ceremony on a Wednesday on a boat – which has its own set of certain “pirate laws” if you will… so the captin has to be the officiant. We weren’t planning on this. We already had someone whom we wanted to marry us! AND on Saturday, we will have a handfasting and spiritual committment ceremony where everyone will bare witness to our vows, we will have a full wedding party, etc. followed by reception. Here’s where things get confusing… My honey-bee wants to have two officiants at the Saturday wedding/handfasting (both of which are not the captin) — and by this ceremopny we will already be legally married. My honey-bee said this is very important to him and since I’m mostly making all the wedding decisions, he really wants this and its nearly all he’s asked for. So I am trying to think of a way to do it… but it needs to be smooth and seemless. I keep wondering how do you make it NOT choppy to go back and forth back and forth? FURTHERMORE to complicate matters, we ARE casting a circle in a field and will be standing in a circle as our alter… so now instead of three of us in the circle with all guests around us, we will have four of us in the circle… which seems strange to me. Doesnt it seem like overkill to have two when niether one is actually legally marrying us?
*Anyone with two officiants who might share a “sample” ceremony with me?
