I’m using Phantom of The Opera’s "All I Ask of You" as my processional… so your ideas for ceremony music aren’t out there or anything:)

For prelude music, we’re using Gershwin and Porter songs ("The Man I Love", "Summertime", etc). We’re going for an older vibe for our wedding, but you can use whatever music floats your boat! As long as your musicians can play it, pretty much anything goes these days.

I think the theme from A River runs through it would be a great song for your ceremony.  We’re using music with a similar sound mostly from the CD Appalachia Waltz.  I love the title track and I think several of the other songs would also go well with either of the songs you listed.    Do you have any ideas what you’re using for your recessional?  We’re still debating about what song to use.

Go for it! I plan on using Mothersbaugh Canon from The Royal Tenenbaums. It’s wacky since only 2 people at the ceremony may recoginize it, plus the fact it’s playing during the cemetery scene in the movie But, it’s such a pretty piece!

we’re using some songs from The Vitamin String Quartet for the ceremony and cocktail hour. They are a string quartet that does covers of popular songs/groups like My Chemical Romance, Nirvana, etc. Available now on iTunes! We haven’t picked which ones, but you never know 🙂

I’m letting my Fiance record himself playing an instrumental version of Julia (the beatles) and I think we’re going to do that for at least one song as well.  I think the whole ceremony might have a beatles theme right now.  I think just doing the instrumental version will keep it "higher brow".

There’s several nontraditional songs that we want to use during our ceremony, all from Final Fantasy games, lol. I want to walk down the aisle to an instrumental version of "Aria di Mezzo Carattere" from the opera scene in Final Fantasy 6, and we are thinking of using the main Final Fantasy theme for the recessional. But I want live music, so I have to find someone who wants to learn how to play this stuff, lol.

I’m thinking that I’m going to have everyone walk down to "You Will Be My Ain True Love" from Cold Mountain. I have a friend with a beautiful singing voice who I’m hoping will sing it for us, but she may not be able to come. Otherwise, I’ll just use the Allison Krauss version. We’re actually going to use "Somebody’s Getting Married" from The Muppets Take Manhattan as the recessional music!

The title theme is composed by Mark Isham of Windham Hill.  You might look at any of the Windham Hill cds (Mark has a nice Windham Hill Retrospective) for music in a similar mood and style.

Even though it’s not exactly a romantic movie, my Fiance and I love the theme song from "The Boondock Saints."  It is a beautiful instrumental- I just hope it doesn’t offend anyone (esp since the "f word" is used about a hundred times!  Anyone know what song I’m talking about?  Our postlude is going to be U2’s Beautiful Day… love that song! I really want it to start playing when we kiss!

We’re going very untraditional using Ribbon in the Sky by Stevie Wonder for the Bridal Party’s processional and Here & Now by Luther Vandross for my processional.  As a recessional, we’re using  I Feel Good by James Brown — which is also a surprise for everyone but the bridal party.  We’re going to dance down the aisle as we leave!  I can’t wait!!

I’m thinking about having "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole as my entry music.  Whichever one I don’t pick will be the bridesmaids’ processional.

For the recessional, I’m leaning towards "Wouldn’t it be Nice" by the Beach Boys.

I think I am going to walk down to the Princess Bride theme song. It is just so romantic sounding. I can’t think of who sings it but playing the song that goes Finally it has happended to me…. as an exit song would be funny. I do like Another One Bites the Dust though. Thats great.
