Hi Dallas ladies! I finally booked a venue! I wanted to share some of the places we looked at before finally choosing The One. We are on a pretty tight budget so most of these are going to be pretty inexpensive (compared to hotels, ballrooms, etc.)
Times Ten Cellars – for a guest list of 70 or less. Wine cellar that has a great atmosphere.
Turner House – currently undergoing some construction. Home to the Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts. Your money will go towards a good cause: mainenance on this historic house.
Dallas Woman’s Forum – I had a hard time contacting the coordinators (never got to schedule a meeting) but I’ve been to a wedding there and it’s a lovely venue.
Party Off the Grid – Amazing loft-style space with a great view of the Dallas skyline. It’s a little bit more expensive than the other venues on this list and the owner seemed a little flaky to me but if neither of those aspects bother you, make sure to check it out!
Old Bedford School – This is such a great venue and it’s really cheap. Beautiful old school building. This was one of our “final contenders” but in the end we decided on another place.
Trinity River Audubon Center – Perfect for the outdoorsy types. This is an amazing and unique place away from the busy city life. Worth the drive to check it out.
Lakewood Theater – I’ve been there for a good friend’s wedding and I was impressed! Such a beautiful old theater.
And finally, our venue: The McKinney Performing Arts Center. Gorgeous old courthouse that was converted to an arts center, right in the middle of historic downtown McKinney.
If you have any specific questions about any of these locations, feel free to PM me!

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I’d bump it because I’m really interested in learning about some more unique Dallas venues! I’m in love with several of the ones kwago posted, especially the Trinity River Audubon Center, but I don’t think any of them are quite big enough. I’m looking for something that can hold between 200 and 250 people. Do any of you know of some other unique places?

My friends had their reception in Lakewood Theater (ceremony at the Dallas Arboretum). They had about 150 or so guests and the space was more than enough for their party; I bet it can seat 300 pretty easily. They set up tables every other row and there was plenty of room… so much that they didn’t bother with seating/table assignments and people just sat anywhere they wanted which was great. They had the buffet table in the lobby area, used the stage for seating the bride, groom, and attendants, and people could get their own drinks at the bar. They used the upstairs nook for their photobooth space. There’s some space up front for dancing. It was a pretty great space and I don’t think it was too expensive since they were on a budget. They just had catering from a local barbecue place.
I’ve also heard about the Richardson Woman’s Club (Founder’s Hall is the bigger hall, the website says it can hold up to 250 people). It looks pretty reasonable but I’ve personally never seen the space or spoken with anyone who’s gone to a wedding there.
Good luck finding a venue! If you do fine somewhere unique please make sure to report back! It would be great to have a running list of venues for our Dallas Bees. 🙂

I would like to add Zituna Banquet Hall to the list of unique Dallas venues. It doesn’t look like anything special from outside, but Latifa, the owner, has done an AMAZING job with the inside. The place is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. It’s connected to a Moroccan restaurant, and the entrance hall for your guests is down a beautiful Moroccan hallway filled with picturesque arches. Latifa also seems very knowledgeable and helpful. Best of all, this place is very affordable compared to many other venues. Zituna is currently our number one choice for our reception.

@GreenEyedMoon: What is the going rate for a Saturday night reception with about a 100 guests for Zituna Banquet Hall?
