love it with the heart stone
love it with the heart stone
Thanks for all the support and advice! So it’s 7 for round and 4 for diamonds. At first it looked like everyone as for round (and certainly my sister thinks heart is a bad idea!) but now I feel like I’m not too crazy. 🙂 I’ll have to make the decision myself…or leave it to my boyfriend.
VeggieBee: Yes, that ring looks very nice though I don’t really like a curved band. Brilliant Earth is in SF, only an hour away from me, so I’ll definitely have to drop by sometime since they do have nice designs.
I put that I love it, but with the caveat that you get the round centerstone. I just don’t like hearts. But if YOU love it, who cares if it’s “risky”!
It’s a little too busy for my taste. I think the side marquise detract from the center stone. I think your second option better. But, you will be wearing it. It should be what you love, not what I love.
Not only do I love the heart shape, I wish I had that ring! Lol. Ring envy! 🙂
I’m not personally a fan of heart shaped diamonds, but I LOVE both of the settings with the roudn brilliant. I don’t think you could go wrong with either one, they are to die for!
Found an image of the ring that illustrates it a little better 🙂 Right now I’m leaning toward round now because I found out I love Old European Cut (in particular August Vintage Round) diamonds, and I think they could fit really well this ring. We’ll see when I order and see in person. Otherwise, I’ll really be torn between round and heart again.
I went to the mall last weekend and we decided the pear side stones are definitely out…somehow it ends up looking like a “blob” on my finger to both me and my boyfriend. I think the marquise diamonds have more of a distinct shape.
Nocturne: Ohhh, antique cuts are my favorite! I have an OEC moissanite and it’s gorgeous. I actually really like the heart shape, which isn’t what I would typically go for. 🙂 But it’s really pretty in this setting.
But really, take some time to think about it… whatever one makes your heart happy is the one you should go with! Doesn’t matter if you’re the only person who likes it. Please don’t make the decision on what anyone else thinks. 🙂 Wear it in good health!!
I like the third ring most with the thin wedding band…I love heart shaped diamonds but not particularly in that style setting I like them in bezels..i say go for the round brilliant…the heart will make it look too busy with the marquise side stones. Goodluck and congrats!
What a beautiful ring! I think the round really showcases the marquise cut stones.
frogprincess: I didn’t know there were OEC moissanites! Once I actually decide on a cut, I will definitely be investigating alternate options (though we can most definitely afford real diamond, the price difference is too big to not at least look into it!).
I love the top one! I’m not a huge fan of hearts, so that one isn’t as appealing to me, but I love the unusual setting!
It looks like a flower in full bloom. Absolutely beautiful
I received the OEC yesterday and love the faceting! In fact, if I pick an OEC, I am starting to think I would love it in a solitaire.
Now the really crazy thing is that it turns out my boyfriend’s mom (who passed away a few years ago) had two rings, one with a modern round brilliant and one with a heart (below)! Now I’m *really* confused! If that heart didn’t exist, I think I would go with the OEC in a solitaire because it’s classic and pretty, and less risky (his little brother can have the modern RB). But if this is a good heart, it seems like it must be fate that his mom happened to have it and I *must* set it in this setting! And it does seem perfect, since if I get tired of the heart later, I can get a new OEC to set in the setting.
This all really depends on what the heart looks like in person! Right now I keep playing with the OEC at work and it’s so beautiful, but I’m sure I could fall in love with heart too, if it’s a good one. If his mom picked it out, it’s probably awesome, unless she was thinking it was a ‘just for fun’ ring and skimped on quality. Or if his dad picked it out, I’d also be a little worried. Blah, why didn’t my boyfriend bring the ring home to our house after he took the photos! –‘ Hopefully we’ll be able to check it out tonight 🙂
Thanks everyone again for the input. 🙂 He ordered the ring on Wednesday (from another place instead of Jared), and we will be setting the OEC cut round (August Vintage) in it! Here’s a preview with the setting from Jared from my iPhone. I can’t wait!
In the end I decided that I’d rather have hearts in necklaces, earrings, and bracelets than in my engagement ring. I have a heart necklace from Swarovski that badly needs updating and will likely set his mom’s heart into a new pendant when I’m ready.
