FI’s first name is just one syllable, so there’s not really a need for a nickname.

Over our honeymoon, I started calling my husband “Dear”‘ which is pretty boring. But he kept thinking if the animal “deer” everytime I said it. So he wanted to respond with an animal name and started calling me “Honeybadger”. Which sounds sweet, but they’re actually really vicious animals. I think it’s hysterical and it makes me chuckle every time he says it.

I call him Preeboy – originally “pretty boy”. Kind of like how you’d say ” pretty bird” to a parrot.

I call my BF “puppy” because he LOVES getting his head/back scratched. he likes to curl up with his head on my lap like a puppy and be pet. I do that absentmindedly when I’m reading or watching TV and when I noticed how much he liked it the nickname was born. I accidentally called him that in front of one of his friends once when we were all at my place and the friend laughed and thought it was perfect for him. Whenever he does something puppy-like the friend will call him puppy too now. I was embarassed and thought that BF would be upset, but he doesn’t care as long as I keep giving him head scratches! He even joked about it yesterday on “national dog day.”

My FI is a one syllable name so I think of new ways to make it longer such as “name-ington”,  “name-tholomew” or “name-tonius”.

sway0060:  I call him monkey… no idea why. lol, it’s silly.

Sometimes Maverick, because he’s a pilot. But I only call him that when it seems like he’s showing off.
