So I’ve been researching save the date ideas. I wanted something other than save the date magnets. Well, after a bit of research I stumbled upon video save the dates. Basically, you and your spouse make come up with a creative idea, put it in a video, and send it out (I’m sure it’s not this concrete) lol. Have any of you tried it orconsidered trying it?

I think that’s a really cute idea. But maybe you might think of a ‘backup’ print form just for those guests that are less tech-savvy?

just my opinion but i really dont like the idea. STD are to remind people they have something on that weekend and to not make plans elsewhere. This is why magnets are fantastic. everytime the go to grab the milk they will see your smiling faces and remember they need to save the date. a video will get watched once and pushed aside. Sorry just my opinion

It sounds like a cute idea, but I don’t think it’s very practical. If it were me, I’d probably watch it once and that’s it. If they have something they can stick on their fridge or bulletin board, they’re constantly being reminded of the date.

it is a very cute idea but i agree with pp about the magnet thing.

the problem with a video is getting everyone to watch it. less tech savvy or busy people may just set is aside, or toss it thinking its junk mail.

Are you thinking about sending it out via email or DVD? Email may be easier. Like some others said, you might also want to print something for the non-techy guests.

I love the idea in theory, it’s super cute, BUT what happens if one of your guests shows it to a non-guest, or it gets posted on FB, and then some people who are not invited think that they ARE?

I agree with the PPs, but I think it would be a great engagement annoucnement vs a STD.
