Also – it’s in Camden and I didn’t like that… no easy hotels to get to, etc.
Front & Palmer – our venue. We LOVE it (though I guess we are a bit biased). It’s an old pickle barrel factory that they’ve converted to a venue.
Thank you girls all so much for the great suggestions!!
so far I have appointments to visit the adventure aquarium and Morris arboretum. I think I want something with a nature-feel to it…so either huge aquariums and gorgeous fish everywhere or an outdoor reception in beautiful gardens.
I wanted to do a rustic/nature-y wedding, ideally where there was outdoor space and a tent – not sure if that’s exactly what you’re looking for! I got married in 2012 at Historic Waynesborough (http://partyspace.com/facilitypages/waynesborough/main.htm). I really loved the space – the tent really sold me! I was really happy with how our wedding turned out and the price was reasonable (well, as far as weddings go).
I also considered Morris Arboretum, as someone else mentioned. The Fairmount Horticulture Center looked beautiful but was more expensive (don’t recall how much but probably out of the budget you quoted). Other suggestions (again, not sure if they are out of budget) include Tyler Arboretum, Appleford or Welkinweir (http://www.robertryancatering.com/venues/), Springton Manor Farm, and Lake House Inn (my friend got married here, it was beautiful). Another friend got married at Knowlton Mansion, which someone else mentioned earlier, and while there isn’t so much nature, it’s got a rustic feel with all the wood and they had a great wedding there.
If you’re looking at a venue in Center City that’s more unique, I liked Stotesbury Mansion (nothing nature about it though!). I also visited the Powel and Physick houses – there’s outdoor space (though small) and it was a cute venue. Feel free to send me a msg if you have any other questions or are interested in any other info!
What about Colonial Dames? I don’t know how big your wedding will be, but if < 100 people, it’s a beautiful place in a beautiful part of the city. You can get married outside in their garden.
I got married at the please touch, it was amazing
We are getting married at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn at the Poconos – it is a great option for the rustic, outdoorsy vibe – plus they have five venue locations each with a slightly different feel.
