Hello! My fiance and I are planning a wedding for Fall 2013. We’re searching for a venue near Philadelphia in Montgomery, Chester, or Delaware County. I’d really appreciate some recommendations for venues that are kind of unusual, and that can accommodate 115-125 people. Our favorite venue we’ve found so far is Barn On Bridge in Collegeville, PA – http://www.robertryancatering.com/index.php/the-barn-on-bridge-gallery/ This is the type of place we’re looking for. Thank you!!

@kbilly: check out the old mill in Rose Mill, PA, or the Rosebank Winery in Newtown, PA. I’ve never been to a wedding at Rosebank, but the grounds are absolutely amazing. The Old Mill is fantastic as well, I went to a wedding there last October and it was gorgeous.

We met with Stephanie from Robert Ryan catering a few months back when we were thinking about Columbia Station in Phoenixville. We ended up going with the Joseph Ambler Inn in North Wales, but she was so nice and I really liked all the menu options RR overs. I love what they did the former Barn on Bridge in Collegeville, they really made the property live up to its potential. Fiance is from the Collegeville area but we did not even bother looking at that property when it was under its old ownership. I actually saw renovated pictures of the Barn property a few weeks ago and really like what they did with it!
Another venue I loved was the Valley Green Inn. It’s in the Forbidden Drive area of Fairmount Park along the Wissahickon. Have you looked at any arboretums or Bartrams Gardens? Partyspace.com was a helpful website when I was looking.
ETA: I just remembered The Gables at Chadds Ford. I loved the venue online, but it’s farther out than what I wanted.

Hows the search going? I know looking for a vendor can be overwhelming. Have you found the Aldie Mansion? Its in Doylestown (Bucks County) PA. Its a historic home, with beautiful grounds. They are always hosting open houses so its easy to visit and meet with a coordinator. Im getting married there (6 months from today!) and am really so excited. Please feel free to contact me with any questions: and good luck!

The Stone Barn in Chester County is lovely, particularly the Mill (which has been completely renovated and is a combination of elegant and rustic).
Penn Oaks Golf Club in West Chester has a beautiful view, and some of the best on-site wedding professionals with whom I have worked.
The William Penn Inn offers antique elegance, and their food and service are very well-respected.
General Warren Inn, in Malvern, is another gorgeous old stone building (with understated elegance, both inside and out) with terrific food and professionals.
