I started a post a few days ago asking about wedding songs. I was just curious then. Well, we had selected “Hold You in My Arms” by Ray LaMontagne, but I just went for a walk and it came on in my ipod and it’s really LONG. I don’t want a neverending first dance. It has a lot of verses!
So I am opening it up to you again, if you have any unique indie or alternative song choices, care to share?
Well, I have done some digging around and the only song that I have come up with that has some personal meaning is “Into the Mystic” the Colin James version.
My New Husband and I both heard this while boating in the summer sun last year, him for the first time, and me just really appreciating it for the first time, and of any song we have ever heard together, it’s really the only one we’ve ever fully connected on. (We have very different tastes in music and we just don’t really seem to see eye to eye…) I think I’ve found a winner!
We’re (probably) dancing to “Stolen”, by Dashboard Confessional, which isn’t too long, but we’re thinking we’ll fade it out maybe halfway or 3/4 of the way through and put on a more upbeat dancing song (probably “Wake me up before you go go” by Wham!). Much as I love the song we’re dancing to, everyone else will probably get a little bored watching us stumble around in slow motion.
Yes, I find this decision most difficult! I am struggling to feel comfortable with this idea of dancing infront of everyone. I have done a full circle back to “Hold You in My Arms” by Ray La Montagne. I really just want everyone to dance to “Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris… that’s my dream. But that just won’t work. I don’t think anyone will get it. I don’t know if I even want a first dance…
