So I am getting married on December 7th, 2013, and I was looking for some unique/fun ideas for a winter wedding! I am not going to lie, I am a little bit of a perfectionist, and want me wedding day to be memorable/fun/unique. Any ideas will help. One thing I will be doing is a s’mores bar at midnight, and during desert, I am going to have a signature drink that will be hot chocolate with Grand Marnier, topped with whipped cream and purple/silver sprinkles. (which are my colours). Thoughts on that are appreciated as well!

I’m getting married in the winter, my colors are plum and black with silver accents here and there. This is the wedding cake idea I like, looks like snow!

Oooooo….great minds think alike! We did a hot chocolate station at our outdoor ceremony with cozy favours, vintage ski guest book, s’mores outside on the patio at midnight with a ski theme photo-booth. Oh we also had a fleece blanket welcome package for the guests in their rooms. Obviously my theme is more ski mountain than winter but here are a few pics for you to see. Just an FYI people loved the hot chocolate and the s’mores! Such a hit so I say do them for sure.

Instead of the usual linens you could use plaid blankets as a topper but in your colors- would give the whole room a cosy feel

winter escort cards

glass cloche and pinecone centerpiece

or use your ivory but add faux fir trim- maybe just for the cake table and/or sweetheart table if you are having one

winter lighting

ice luminaria outside the venue

we are getting married in February – the winter theme is evident from the invites of bare branched treeds up until Hot Cocoa is given to all guests on their way out!!!!

I hate to point this out, but, I had contemplated getting married in early December as well, so I ran into this issue. Winter begins, at least… formally, on the 21st of December. I ended up considering January with that. >_<
I love the idea of cocoa and s’mores. That makes me think of Winter in a mountain cabin or ski lodge. Maybe have things that look like snow sculptures, or little snowmen. Maybe have people sign an old-fashioned wood sled as a registry? Having dry ice around for a light mist around the floor might be neat? A Winter flower idea might be Jacqueline Postill?
