If there is already a thread about this I’m sorry but I’m in need!!
I know who I’m going to ask to be my bridesmaids, but I need a good idea on how to do it. I don’t just want to call them up and say hey wanna be one of my bridesmaids?… nothing against that at all but I just wanted to make is a bit more special.
Let’s also keep in mind ‘special’ is still on a tight budget… i was hoping for sentimental ideas that don’t cost anything actually, so if anyone has any good ideas, throw some this way!!!
Thanks in advance!! 🙂

I went thrift store shopping until I could find enough hideous bridesmaid’s dresses for my ladies. I ended up with a teal beauty with puffy sleeves, a black one with a huge ass bow in the front, and a lovely peach lace one with off-the-shoulder sleeves and far too much crinoline. They were terrible, and I only spent about $10 for all of them.
I then mailed them to my maids with a card that said “will you be my bridesmaid?” and “I already picked out your dress for you.” They really got a kick out of it, and because I didn’t tell them to expect a box or anything, they were really suprised!
We had thrown around the idea of wearing them to my bachelorette party, but never found an old wedding dress for me in time.

I saw a cute idea that was really cost effective. (I’d use this if my girls didn’t know already!) You can get a free recipe for fortune cookies online. Make them, and insert a paper note with whatever you choose – “Will you be my bridesmaid” or “I would be very FORTUNATE if you would be my maid of honor” or whatever! Then put them in a cute box or wrap them in something you have around the house and give them out or ship them. Side note – if you have the time, dip the fortune cookies in chocolate and roll them in pretty sugar or sprinkles! Good luck!

I “hand” wrote a really nice personal note to each of my girls, I have this monogramed cards that I got a while ago that are really cute. I wrote something about our times together as friends and how I would love to have them by my side on my wedding. I was going to send them something else but then I realized people don’t take time to hand write things anymore, it is all about text messages and facebook haha so a simple touch like that made them really happy =)

I have already asked three, and, looking back on it, I wish I would have put more effort into asking them…I was just SO excited about being engaged and my best friends kept bringing up the wedding, so I figured I should ask them already…ANYWAYS, I wrote personal notes to each of them on our newly created website. Then I sent a nonchalent text asking them if they could tell me if they like the layout of a website I created. I then showed up to their house with a card and candy while they were reading the notes.
In hindsight, it was pretty lame and immature (we’re all in college). I hope to make up for it with their gifts.
PS- i LOVE the ugly bridesmaid dress idea…

I bought cheap (but pretty!) phtoo frames at Kohls. Then, on my computer, I typed out special notes to each of them and added a picture of a bouquet of flowers that are our wedding colors. I printed the notes out on 4 x 6 photo paper and put them in the frame. My girls now have a special momento of being a bridesmaid! 🙂 They all loved it. They ALL cried!
