I saw on the news last night that United Airlines was rated worst airline in America. I hoped it wasn’t true since I’m flying them for our wedding!
Our flight out of Boston was delayed by an hour because their crew was not scheduled appropriately. Cue the nightmare. We are getting in to our final destination 6 hours late- too late too get my dress pressed or pick up our wedding certificate. abd this is with separate flights that arrive at different times.
Please don’t count on united for your flights!

Ahh that is a nightmare! I have flown United countless times and have never had a problem. I don’t think there are many airlines that people wholly love.

I’m sorry, I hope everything works out!
The last few times I tried to fly home, my return flight was cancelled. Thanks, United!

I don’t have a favorite airline and am not a spokesman for united, but this can happen with any airline, and it isn’t always the airlines fault. Your are lucky that you are only 6 hours late, not delayed till the next day. I have learned the hard way to always give yourself enough time for these kinds of nightmares.
Sorry this is happening for such an important time though 🙁

United fails at scheduling. Our flight was slightly delayed from Japan, which then caused everyone to miss their connecting flights in DC because there wasn’t enough time in the layovers for customs and such.
On the other hand, the actual 12 hour flight was the least sucky I’ve had (there were seriously like 100 movie choices. It was awesome), so I’d probably fly with them again just based on that.

Ugh, frustrating. But everything will be okay in the end, you’ll see!
I flew United once. Ended up stuck at Boston Logan airport before Christmas, and as a bonus they lost my luggage. Never again.

We flew United back and forth between the US and our wedding in India because we didn’t want to take a connecting flight. They are only 1 of 2 carriers that do the ultra long haul from NYC to Mumbai.
Worst. Decision. Ever. On the way back I got food poisoning from the lunch I ate the day that we were leaving and started vomiting about an hour before our flight. When we got on the flight my husband told the flight attendant I was sick. She responds “everyone on this flight is probably sick” and scooted away. During takeoff, I vomited on myself, my husband and my seatmate down from him (husband gave me the window to keep me away from the poor soul in aisle…she was so SWEET)…their air sickness bags aren’t LEAK PROOF which is why the flight was ruined for everyone around me rather than just for 5 minutes. They are just crappy paper bags that will leak on you and have the bottom fall out, not even waxed to be leak proof like I remember them being in the 80s. I start cursing whichever asshole management consulting company told them to get rid of leak proof bags by calculating how many people actually throw up on a plane vs. expenditures on leak proof air sickness bags.
I threw up 8 more times on that flight. They NEVER responded to the call button, not once. My seatmate and husband took care of me, getting me ginger ales and getting up from their sleep to let me crawl to the bathroom. 7 hours into the flight when I almost threw up on the co-captain on the way to the bathroom (standing at the back)…THAT’s when HE went and got the flight attendant and was like “WTF, she is seriously ill…does she need a doctor.”
I have a 120K points on them right now which we can use for 1 free international flight ticket or a domestic vacation, but after that EFF them. I have never flown such a bad airline…it’s like all the bad memories I had of flying them cross country when I was still a Fed (they’re the government carrier so was required to book them) disappeared when I booked that goddamned flight to India.
In-flight entertainment was good though.

Made it back!!! We ended up flying American back, and they were stellar. They have a new policy that lets you check 2 bags free!
I don’t necessarily believe this would happen at any airline. Sure, delays happen, that’s part of travel. It’s also how the airline chooses to deal with the delay.
We were told that our flight could not leave on-time because a flight came in late last night at 11PM and they didn’t have staff available for our 6:00 AM flight the next day. That’s *at least 7 hours of lead time* before our flight for United to have taken action. United is an international operation, and this was not a delay due to weather or other remarkable circumstances.
The airline should have:
A) Contacted all of the passengers. They have our email address and when we checked the status in the morning, it was not listed as delayed. I would have loved to at least get an extra hour of sleep.
B)Pre-emptively rescheduled all passengers’ connecting flights or presented each passenger with the available options at check-in. It was a big hassle for the entire plane to deal with re-booking our flights at the gate.
C) Attempted to move staff around so that a crew could be had. Yes, its difficult, but they could have made it voluntary for the crew and offered over-time. It was a huge flight at the very beginning of Boston’s spring break – lots of families and people going on big vacations with international or cross-country connections who missed them.
What United ended up doing was nothing. I was really surprised at their total lack of commitment to their passengers. My airline of choice is Southwest – I guarantee if we had flown them, this would not have been an issue. Lesson learned!

United are the absolute worst. I haven’t flown with them in 15 years for this exact reason. They are awful and always have been, and show no apparent interest in fixing it. I honestly don’t understand how they’re still in business.
I’ve flown 2.5MM miles on American over the past 22 years, and while they have their share of problems, at least the usually seem to be trying hard to fix them.

Uh yes I hate United. I avoid them whenever possible. There’s always luggage issues, boarding takes forever because of their ridiculous group system, and they are never on time.

United is so far the only carrier I *haven’t* had major issues with in terms of delays, lost luggage, rude employees, etc. But I can believe it, given how many times I’ve had these problems in general. It’s really frustrating.

I’ve had terrible experiences as well. I prefer to fly delta I’ve never had issues with them

I’ve never had major issues with United. Their hub is by my local airport in NJ so I fly them at least 4-6x a year. I always have issues with US Airways. I used to hate American and Delta also bc of their horrible customer service.

I’ve flown United plenty of times and never had any issues. But sorry to hear of your nightmare 🙁
Have to remember that it happens with all airlines. People make mistakes. Unfortunately with that mistake it affects a lot of people.
