Not sure where I’m going to buy mine, yet…

The moms light the side candles after they are seated, before the ceremony starts.  After your vows, you go back and light the center candle with you side candle and then blow your side candle out to symbolize the union.

Have you considered doing the whole sand mixing thing?  There are lots of other alternative options!

I’m going to have one, because I just never really thought about doing anything different… But I’m not having the moms light the candle… I always thought that aspect of it was weird. There are alternatives if it’s just the candle you’re not fond of! Like unity sand, unity drinks.. pretty much anything you can mix. 🙂

@ClassyKate:  Oh, the Moms do it BEFORE the ceremony? I wouldn’t mind that then I guess! 🙂

@silkspectre94:  Yep!  It’s literally right after they walk down the aisle, to symbolize the two families coming together.  Usually they do it before the officiant, groom, and groomsmen come out!
