So I am trying to decide if I want to do a unity candle or sand. Fiance doesnt care either way but I know for sure I want one or the other. I have loved the Unity Candle since I saw my parents and think its a great tradition but when I saw the Unity sand I fell in love with the idea as well. The downfall to the Candle is that it may not light when we want it too being a new candle and it is an older tradition and the downfall to the sand is that I have heard the sand takes longer because it takes a little bit to pour the sand into the object(we are looking at a picture type box)
Any thoughts on which is easier during the ceremony. Any thoughts on which seems nicer is appreciated. Thank you 🙂

We’re flying so we’re going to do a handfasting. Our cloth will match our aisle runner.

I vote if you are having a beach wedding, do the sand. But if you are in a church or more traditional venue do the candle. I think the candle is more useful; you could light it on your anniversary each year.

@engleman10513: we are having the wedding in a church downtown
the alter will have white lace on it instead of the green and the wise men wont be there but candles and cross will

I vote on candle. But I think you should do whatever you like 🙂

I chose to do the sand ceremony because I thought it would looked so pretty and look good in pics. 🙂 And It’s a great keepsake and decoration piece. But, I think you just need to decided how you envision your wedding to be. Good Luck. Oh, here’s a pic.

@FutureArmyWife12: I like the unity candle better for a church ceremony, I think it fits a bit better with your ceremony surroundings. Or if you and your Fiance could do a Unity Cross which is a cool idea and it is something you can keep it as a keepsake after the wedding. Here is a link:
