@Lulume:  It must be hard that your family cannot make it to the wedding.

However, there is no law that says family have to light your taper. The most meaningful ceremonies are ones that are adapted to the people involved. You could have the offiicent light the two tapers, then hand one to each of you.

@Lulume:  Awww I’m sorry. I understand your feelings to an extent. I have a tiny family…both of my parents are deceased and I have a step-mom and step-sister. They are the only family I am going to have there. Fi is going to have 200 family members, no joke. Are you going to have close friends there? Someone who you would feel good about lighting a taper and including in the ceremony to represent you?
