Oh oh oh!  My rehearsal dinner will be there this summer (in the Gold room)!  They have a great outdoor rooftop patio looking over oakland–just gorgeous! Our reception is at the PAA though.  Are you a Heinz Chapel bride?

I have a friend who’s getting married there in May, and said it’s very pretty and fairly neutral for any decor.

@VirginiaMarie: are YOU a Heinz Chapel bride?? I am!!!

Rachel, I had a group of six people (including myself) calling Heinz Chapel to try to get our reservation. We started calling the second the office opened, and my cousin eventually got through an hour and a half later! I was starting to give up hope, and then she got it. I also got my first choice of date and time after an hour and a half of calling. I heard some horror stories on The Knot, like, “oh we got through after twenty minutes and the only slot left was 2 PM on a Friday,” but it didn’t work out like that for me. Also, if you’re not all calling from the same place, just make sure everyone knows exactly all the information they need to make a reservation, and that they’re clear on your preferences in terms of date/time. Good luck!! I was sooooo nervous on our calling day!

@Carrie—any of your girls have 412 area codes?   I had 15 people calling and only one got through and it was pretty fast.  but she was the only one with a local area code!  I heard a rumor about that being the case, but I didn’t believe it until it happened to me!

Nope, the girl who got through was calling from Boston. I had also heard rumors that calling from an on-campus extension gets you through easily, but one of our groomsmen works in the study abroad office and called for us, and he never got through.

I am also a Pitt alum and did not have my wedding at Heinz Chapel (we planned our wedding in 9 months, and you need to know a year in advance for Heinz to get any good dates/times) but I’ve been to many weddings there and am close with a lot of those people.

Most of the people I know would SWEAR by the “use an on-campus extension” phone when calling.  That’s how they all finally got through – one used the on-campus phone that’s available to anyone in the William Pitt Union and that’s how he got through.

So, I don’t know how much weight to give that, but it’s definitely something to consider!
