  • Veil – I really didn’t want one. Then the consultant put one on me when I was trying on my dress and it was so pretty so I bought it.
  • After-tizers – bacon-wrapped hotdogs as a late night snack are not necessary but oh-so-good and my guests will love them
  • Singing DJ – I could get the kind that only plays music but we know him and have seen him perform and he’s great!

having our professional photographer at the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner has been our biggest unnecessary splurge. our rehearsal dinner is HUGE (about 60% of our guests), and it’s at a super nice place, so we wanted it captured properly.

I’d say our photog is kind of unnecessary. I think having SOME photographer there is necessary but we could capture the day spending half as much. Also our venue is kind of unnecessary. We could’ve spent less on a more boring place. I guess I don’t think we have a lot of unnecessary stuff… but we could’ve scaled back the cost of some of the things we’re having.

I’m with corgitales, we don’t have a lot of unnecessary stuff but could’ve done somethings cheaper, mainly the venue and catering at this point and I’m going to try to spend less on other things.

I guess a pianist is not really needed but we wanted there to be piano music during cocktail hour and dinner, we are hoping to get a friend of a friend to do it so we shouldn’t have to pay too much.

We don’t really have anything unnecessary–ah, the joys of being poor. I guess our photographer, even at $600, is unecessary–FMIL wants to shoot the whole thing herself, but I refuse to let her do that.

This might sound random, but right now my random thing I don’t need is a dance floor 🙂 The dance portion of the reception is outdoors and its on a brick patio…technically we don’t need a wood dance floor, but I really want one!

I think (sadly for my wallet) that all those “extras” are what makes a wedding memorable!!!!  Every wedding has a venue/food/dress/flowers/photographer…but does every wedding have CHOCOLATE CAKE BALLS????  no way — that’s what I would remember about your wedding :-).  sounds AMAZING!!

@futuremrscrawford: eh.. i think that is true only to an extent. I went to my brother’s wedding this weekend and what I will NEVER forget about their wedding is my brother crying when my SIL came down the aisle. Everything else kind of pales in comparison. And its free. 🙂

i have to go with transportation.  we could just as easily drive ourselves but it would be nice to not worry about it.
