The boyfriend and I have been together a little over a year and a half. We live together, and basically feel as though we are an old married couple; I feel like I’ve known him my entire life. We are perfect together *awww* and always act silly. I feel like that’s one of the best attributes about our relationship.
Anyway, a long, long time ago, we both knew we wanted to be together and that we would marry one day. He told me to pick out my ring, because he didn’t want the responsibility or the possibility of me not liking it. I told him I only had 2 requirements: 1) no yellow gold and 2) SHINY! He didn’t budge, he still told me to find the one I wanted. I spent endless hours all over the internet and couldn’t really decide on one ring. I must have spent at least 50 hours looking through thousands of rings.
Together, we came to the mutual decision (much to his disliking) that I would get a less expensive ring now, and upgrade later. I told him I would rather save the money that we would spend on a ring to have the wedding that we both want. He still isn’t crazy about the idea of me not having a “nice” ring now, but he’s become more accepting of the idea.
I turned to eBay (my favorite!) where I found 2 rings.
The first is just a basic CZ solitare with micro-pave CZs on the band, set in sterling silver. I’m going to this one for daily wear, to work etc so I don’t tear up my other one. Unfortunately, one of the stones was already missing when I got this one. Because it is so small, you don’t notice it unless you are searching for it. But for $14, I’m not going to complain.
This blue topaz one is my favorite! It’s big and blingy just the way I like, and I love the color of it. This is going to my “official” ring. I want him to propose with this one so I can have all the fancy professional pictures taken to ooh and ahh over later.
I am in love with this ring!
Finally, I found this gorgeous Asscher on Berricle.com. If you are looking for some pretty and affordable CZ and sterling gems, this is the place to go. They almost always have a 25% sale going on. They also have pretty, simple necklace/earring combos that would be nice for the big day.
I wear a 7, and they are currently backordered. Their customer support was excellent, and very prompt in returning e-mail inquiries. They said the would add me to the wait list, and I would receive an e-mail notification when they came back in stock in my size.
If I had an endless budget and could buy any ring I wanted in a diamond, I would probably select something like this asscher. I’m not going to kid myself though, because it would easily cost upwards of $50,000!
I like the idea of having multiple rings to wear so I don’t tear them up. I don’t plan on being overly rough with them, but let’s face it, accidents happen. Silver is also a softer metal than gold, so it is less scratch resistant.
Troy is currently in possession of both rings, and I am eagerly awaiting his proposal. We are already in full blown wedding planning mode, I’m just waiting to make it official!
