Don’t suck on lemons unless you want to lose your tooth enamel. The acid can destroy your teeth in record time.

When’s the last time you had your teeth cleaned? Do you floss every day? Notice any loose fillings and do you brush your tongue?

I got a horrible metallic taste in my mouth when I was pregnant. Turns out it was the prenatal vitamins.

I have not had this problem, perhaps drinking some flavored water once a day will help. I drink half tea/half lemonade once a day so maybe that is the difference.

My mom was just like @KatyElle:.  She said throughout her entire pregnancy with my brother she always had a metallic taste in her mouth.  I think it’s actually pretty common.

This is actually pretty common… pregnant women sometimes develop a metallic/bitter taste in their mouth that seemingly won’t go away. I think it says the entire pregnancy for some women, and only a portion of it from other women.

Talk to your OB- I don’t think there’s a way to get rid of it, but since it’s a common symptom, she might be able to tell you the best way to deal with it.

@bells: I carried a lot of fresh mint around, and that helped. I was working at a bar and would just munch on it all day when I was making drinks and it helped, so then I’d buy it in big bags. For some reason sugary candies like Mentos and even gum just made me feel sick. But the fresh mint helped get the taste out and it was easy on my digestion.

@bells: Yes! You can get it in the produce aisle at the grocery store. I discovered it while making mojitos at work.
