Aww, that’s cute!

I wouldn’t say mine was awkward, silly or bad, just….anticlimactic.  We had been talking about getting engaged for months and I knew that he had already bought the ring, so I kept waiting for it whenever we would go out to eat or whatnot.

The day he picked it up, he couldn’t wait to give it to me.  As soon as he got home, he followed me around for awhile until I sat on the couch and then he sat next to me and pulled it out.  Gah, I looked like crap in my PJs, stressed out about a project I was trying to finish, and there was a terrible TV program on at the time. LOL!  I can’t lie…I was kind of disappointed that he didn’t even get down on one knee or seem like he put too much thought into it, but at the end of the day I was very happy that we were finally engaged.

I think that is adorable!  I think its sweet he just decided he had to ask right then and you have a funny story about it now!

I picked out the ring with my Fiance, so I knew a proposal was coming.  I expected it to be on a European vacation we already had planned, so I often teased him about proposing before then (eg, he’d suggest going to a nice restaurant, i’d ask if it was a celebration dinner etc).  The morning of the day he ended up proposing (not on vacation, he couldn’t wait that long!), we were lounging in bed and he asked what I wanted to do that day and I said “get engaged”. He then started talking about how much he loved me and wanted to make me happy (he is incredibly sweet and says this kind of stuff often), so i interrupted with “this sure sounds like a proposal!”. He then pulled the ring box out from under the pillow!

It was definitely a funny/awkward story that I interrupted his proposal but it is so us that I wouldn’t change it at all!

My husband woke me up on bended knee at like 630am and proposed. I was in his tee and boxers! And then he went to work! Haha. I was like wtf what is happening?! Is that ring mine? Are we doing this now??! Okay lol sure.

I always said he did it like one does morning chores… Take out garbage check, drop bills in mail check, propose to gf check. But I was still elated. I LOVE my husband and I loved/love my ring, so hey I’ll take 2/3. He wimped out of the romantic long weekend proposal. He was too paranoid to travel with the ring lol.

It’s not the proposal I would have scripted but you’re right it’s really not about that- they are all romantic by definition IMO. The exciting thing is the promise to marry!

Aw, it may not be a movie-style romantic proposal but it’s such a sweet, funny story!

My dad loves Christmas and likes to spoil people like crazy, so when he and my mom were dating, he showered her with gifts the Christmas of 1987…new clothes, shoes, all kinds of stuff! Later that day, she was going to the bathroom (#2!) and my dad slid an engagement ring under the door. She came out holding it and was like, WTF. That’s basically it, and then they were engaged, lol!

Mine was also pretty anticlimatic. He had asked a couple days before “hypothetically” if he were to get a ring, what kind would I like and what ring size I was. I had expected him to propose when his parents came to visit (like a few weeks later) but he pulled out a placeholder ring on a shabby ferris wheel in a fair. I was afraid the ferris wheel was going to break apart and was sitting there waiting to die (I’m afraid of heights and not good with rides lol). Then he reaches into his pocket and fumbles around and awkwardly whispers a bunch of random stuff to me. I don’t even think he asked the question, “Will you marry me?” It was all a blur. But I just know I was ecstatic afterward. I couldn’t have been happier, even with the gaudy plastic ring on my finger.

Haha! I was standing at the stove cooking taco meat for dinner and he walked over to me with the ring box and said, “Do you wanna marry me?”

I think I looked at him like he had lost his mind for a good two minutes but I said yes. Then we ate dinner! Lol

No romantic frills in this relationship!

My husband decided to film me during his proposal, and I was PISSED that he was staring at his stupid phone instead of looking me in the eye. I said yes and then burst into tears of mixed joy and annoyance. Haha

We were repainting our bedroom, I was in my pajamas, and he just pulled it out and asked, no bended knee or anything.  I have loved  this man so much for most of my life none of that mattered, I was so happy.

snowdrops :  too funny! Mine happened when we were making burritos for dinner!

I knew a proposal was coming, and I had guessed he had picked up the ring that day but wasn’t expecting it to happen that night! Anyway I was in the kitchen, just got in from work, helping him make dinner and complaining about work and he was like “come into the bedroom for a second” so I did and he knelt down on a pile of laundry and said “I just can’t wait another second!” And asked. Then we went to the store because we were out of cheese. he’s awkward unromantic and the love of my life! 😉

My fiancé is also an awkward unromantic man. I picked the ring out so I knew it was coming. I thought he was going to wait for our 4 year anniversary or my birthday. But, a week before those dates we took our pup on a hike. We are both avid outdoorsy people and hiking is huge part of our lives and our relationship. Once we were at the top of the mountain he went into the bushes to “go to the bathroom” but came back with a ring box in his hand. He got down o one knee and said “well, honey. Will you marry me?” It was amazing. It wasn’t Hollywood over the top romantic but it was totally 100% him and that’s why it was perfect.

Then we climbed down, went home and showered and got dressed up, and we went out for drinks and a really fancy dinner to celebrate.

rusty15 :  Love reading these:) I started off wanting a typical Pinterest proposal. Told him I really want somebody there to capture the moment and for my nails to be done. We had gone ring browsing just so he knew what I liked but he still needed to save so it would be awhile. Well after browsing rings for a few months he tells me he has the ring and wants to ask my parents for my hand and was telling me he was going to dinner with my parents so when he decides he wants to propose its all taken care of. He calls me on the hour drive back from my parents house to his and tells me all about how excited my parents were. Eventually I told him I needed to get to bed so I said goodnight and hung up. About an hour later I hear a knock at my door. Being the paranoid person I am, and it being 10 at night, I call him and asked him to stay on the phone with me while I check it out. Eventually I just say that I’m just going to ignore them and hope they go away but he convinces me just to peak through the blinds, which I did and found him standing there. We were long distance, and sometimes he would surprise me so I didn’t think anything of it until he walked in, dropped to his knee, and said “I’m sorry I just can’t wait any longer! Will you marry me?”. I said yes standing in my filthy work shirt, in my college house. Later on he told me he had bought the ring way before we even went ring browsing and was so nervous every time we went because he didn’t want me to know he actually already had one lol No it wasn’t my dream proposal that was planned to perfection, but honestly I wouldn’t want it anyway. What he did was real, pure spontaneity and I had never felt so wanted and loved as in that moment.
