So, I was quoted $2,750 for a photography pakage including:
6hrs coverage, engagement session, dvd with edited images, preview post, proofing gallery, and 11×14 40pg “fancy” album.
I love this photographer’s work, but don’t want to overpay either, do you think this cost is reasonable? Would you mind sharing how much your paying for comparison purposes? Thanks

I meant to spell you’re in my last question, sorry for the typo!

Photographers are EXPENSIVE. It depends on your area. I refused to pay the going rate in my area even though it is less than your quote so I went with a beginer whose work I had seen, loved and then met in person to show her what I liked.

@Imean: this is a case of ‘is it worth it to you?’ If you love the pictures and want the photographer and can afford it go for it, if not keep looking 🙂
mine is costing $2200
then the reception photographer will be $350

Sounds great! I’m not getting the album, but I am getting 7 hours of coverage, and paying about the same amount.

It’s seems like you’re getting a lot for the package. That’s great! I think a lot of the price depends on the area. In San Francisco, packages are around 4k and you get less. Your potential photographer’s work looks beautiful. Also, be sure that you check out a few sets of enire weddings that she’s done, so you know what to expect for your wedding b/c the websites are just the best of the best photos. Good luck picking your photographer!!

That seems like a great price, actually!
We are paying $3800 for 8 hours of coverage, a photobooth, all the images on file, an engagement session, but no fancy album.
Have you compared to other photogs in your area? It really varies by location.

What about rights to the photos?
It sounds like a good deal! Around here can be pretty expensive, though.

It sounds pretty averagely priced, hon. Most photogs avg around $1500-$4000 nationwide, depending on the size of your city. I found a part time photographer who does a lot of weddings and we’re paying for rights and digital files, 5 hours of coverage for $500.00. If you can afford it, I say go for it!

Interesting to see how prices can vary so much! I guess it really depends on what you’re looking for, but this makes me feel much more confident, thanks!

Our photographer was pricey. $7900 pricey for 6 hours coverage + books and the digital negatives. Paying for the rights to those negatives hiked the price up a lot more. And to compensate for the price, we’re not having a videographer
But I’m a very visual person. I like a certain style in photos. I used to be a photojournalist so I wanted someone who’s able to become a fly on the wall and tell a story rather than have posed shots. Also, my fiance’s not very good with posing.
So it really depends on how important you think the photos are.

Our quote is the exact same dollar amount as yours – $2,750
It includes all day coverage, and a disc of all of the edited images.
The photo book was another $2240. We are not getting it lol.

I’m overpaying for my photographer but I fell in love with them and this was the only spurge in my budget. 🙂

I think that’s a good price. I’m paying 4.2K in NYC for 8 hours, 2 photographers (CRITICAL) and a CD of the pics and even that seemed like a great deal to me.

You are paying pretty much exactly what I am for a similar package. I shopped around a lot, and I know I got a really good deal. I’d say you did pretty well too!
