i just picked my dress up last week and I had sleeves added to it because I loved the idea of them and wanted my dress to be one of a kind that no one else had.. I’m feeling unsure about them. I kind of feel like I look too vintage or elderly and I want to feel confident and pretty on my wedding day 🙁 I spent a lot on alterations and know there’s no going back now. Just wanted to vent I guess! I hope once my hair, makeup and lashes are done I’ll feel more bridal. I’ll post a pic of the dress and my hair trial

Love the silhouette and lace! I like the sleeves, but I’ll admit I do kind of see what you mean… I think it’s the lace trim at the wrist. What about a 1/2 or 3/4 sleeve ending at the lace at the elbow instead? Or you’re saying that’s not an option? You definitely look beautiful regardless!
Love the flower in your hair too. 🙂

QueenBee32 : I think it will look lovely if you just get rid of the wrist lace and make them 3/4 sleeves. Not that I’m a fan of this person, but she did nail her wedding dress:

I could try that! The sleeves are tulle. I could just snip the scalloped lace around the wrists off lol maybe that would help though! I’d rather not take it back to the alterations lady and pay

QueenBee32 : The sleeves look very loose. Are the alterations finished? Because I think they’d look a lot better if they weren’t so loose around your arms. I also agree with PP about the wrist cuffs.

Yes they are all done. They aren’t super fitted but they aren’t right either. I think I’m going to snip off the cuffs this week and thatll
make me feel better about it.

mid sleeves or short sleeves! 🙂

I love the sleeves! They are beautiful and elegant and a perfect addition to your already gorgeous dress. Honestly I would not change a thing

I love sleeves, and yours are great! But I agree with the PP that the wrist cuffs are a bit much. Can’t wait to see the look if you decide to trim them off!

Yes, do the wrist bits first and then see if you might like to take it up to elbow length . It think it wil look lovely . Well, it already does .

Beautiful curly hair! Goes well with your romantic dress.
The tulle also looks loose around your arms to me so cutting it at the elbow might not be enough. I love the idea of cutting around the first lace appliqué at the shoulder. Here is the visual as a pic is worth 1000 words (the sleeve on the side of your kitchen entry is the rep of what I mean).
Also, sure the alterations were a lot of money. But you already spent. Now you might as well get what you want instead of sticking with it and not liking it. Good luck!

I had sleeves and just love them. Mine were 3/4. Just be mindful where the sleeves stop. The one in the photo above isnt a flattering length.
Dress designers recommend half way between elbow and wrist or slightly longer.

Do you have a side pic of the sleeves? That might give a better idea of where would be the most flattering point to cut them. The issue I have with the sleeves based on the photo provided is that the lace appliques looks sparse or intermittent (not really coming up with the right word) the way it is applied now.
I can sense a hint that there is something applied about mid-tricep area, but from the angle you posted it looks more like you have cap sleeves, a huge gap of nothing at the biceps, a band around your elbows, and then another huge gap until you get to the wrists. The two odd bands of lace at the elbows and wrists remind me more of sweat bands like you’re about to head off to get some cardio. I think it’s an issue of either needing to cut the sleeves significantly shorter or distributing the lace appliques in a more flattering arrangement and/or adding more.

Thank you miss violet I agree! I think that’s the length I’ll be going for.
I plan to removed the “sweat band” lace at the end of my sleeves.. the sides are Lacey and no they are not a full lace everywhere as that was the style I wanted. I wanted minimal/scattered lace sleeves since my dress already has so much lace detail I didn’t want it overwhelming on the sleeves.
