We are talking about the song "Baby it’s a Fact" by Hellogoodbye as our first dance song. I think if we get dance lessons we can do something fun with it. Bees… please give me your thoughts on this, thanks in advance!

I love it! Our song is difficult to dance to as well..and we’re taking dance lessons to help. I’m thinking adding some carefree skipping would be fun…i love the beats, makes me want to get up and skip around.

Oh I love that song! I think you could dance foxtrot to it, but I’m not sure. With dance lessons, you should go for it. Very cute.

Thank you for the positive responses, my fiance and I feel much better about the decision now!
Bees… I’d like to know what other "unusual" first dance songs you are thinking of!

We’re dancing to "This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)" by the Talking Heads. I’m sure it will turn a few heads….. 🙂 I think its much more important to have a song that really means something to us rather than a more normal ‘dance-able’ tune. We are taking some lessons, and I’ll be interested to see the reaction from the instructor. 🙂

We are dancing to "What Are You Doing New Years’ Eve," which is not unusual in the same way… but our band cracked up at the idea, mostly because our wedding is in July. But my Fiance believes that our first date was New Years Eve (I think it was about six months before that, and the debate is pretty funny to all our friends and family – everybody knew we were dating but he was sort of in denial) so it is appropriate.

Our song is "Baby It’s Cold Outside" – and we’re getting married in June. Of course, it’s the Pacific Northwest so it could very well be cold outside…. Anyway, I’ve heard that sometimes your dance teacher will suggest slowing the song down (or picking it up) just enough that it fits the beat of a particular dance. Could that work for you? I have to admit I must be too old to know the particular song you’re talking about…

That would be a great song to chacha to. If you learned a few basic steps (box + a turn or two) it would be great!

Our song is actually by a sort of "metal" band Between the Buried and Me. The song isn’t "metal," though… But my fiance and I used to listen to this song all the time together… it’s a song with a lot of meaning to us… and the best part: it’s pretty unique for a first dance song. http://youtube.com/watch?v=WZ_A8apB2gE&feature=related (that’s the best I could find of it).
Hellogoodbye is pretty awesome. :] I bet you two could pull it off!

"What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve" is one of my favorites. I was listening to it the other day at work

We wanted to do something fast and upbeat to get people moving so we’re doing Harry Conick Jr. "Recipe for love" and then breaking into a faster song (aith the help of a choreographer cause we certainly have two left feet!). We’re using the song that means the most to us for me to walk down the aisle cause Fiance doesn’t want to get all teary eyed during the first dance 😉

CHRIS CORNELL is our favorite singer. I love "Finally Forever" (Album: Carry On) but when we married that song wasn’t released yet, so We choose When I’m Down (Album: Euphoria Morning) Everyone loved the song.
Both are amazing and unusual songs for "the first dance"

I think it’s a great pick for a first dance song. The upbeat rhythm will put people in a good mood, and the lyrics are perfect. You’ll have a lot of smiling people watching you. What a great tone to set for your reception.
