Our reception venue is a fantastic old courthouse turned museum in Dallas and my question is about what to do with several small rooms. The venue has one large ballroom with four smaller rooms (about 8×6) attached to it. We’re going to make one a lounge for anyone who might need to get away from the music and another will hold our photobooth, but we can’t figure out what to do with the remaining two rooms. Any suggestions?

are you having kids at your wedding? if you are you could set up a kids table with coloring books or other small things to keep them entertained and play with each other out of the way of your other guests. you cold even set up a small tv/dvd player and play cartoons. it’d give their parents a break as well.

If you have a sweets table or candy buffet, maybe you can put that in a separate room. Will you have kids there? Maybe a room can be set up as a kids/babysitting room. If you have a videographer, maybe they can set up, for guests to go over and make special messages to you. Or you could just set up the room with a slide show or have pictures of you and your Fiance, etc.

I like the idea of making the sweets table it’s own room. Yummy!

Thank-you ladies! These are great ideas! Unfortunately we are not having children at our wedding, not because we don’t want them, but because we simply don’t know any. I like the idea of having a sweets room, when they realize they’re missing the bride I’m pretty sure they’d find me there!

how about setting the wedding cake up in one of the rooms? or a dessert buffet? i’m not sure how it’s laid out but if it’s by the entrance you could have it be a guest sign-in? where they can drop off gifts / cards, etc?

You could put pictures and your guest book in one of the rooms. You’d probably have to have signage though so they know to go in there.
