Soooooo I went to the craft store today to poke around, and I found a mini white mailbox.
Like this. If you’ve read some of my past posts, you may be aware that one of our favorite movies is Up.. We watched it for the first time together and d’aww. Such good memories attached to that film.
Thus, I snatched it up and I’m planning to paint it with our names like in the movie, then put more little vintage, Up-inspired gifts inside. I need help with what to get/make for him! Preferably make, as I’m pretty broke. 😉 But, cheap is also an option. He loooves pin up girls, also: I was thinking of incorporating them since it fits with the vintagey theme!
One idea I’m toying with is keeping a “mail theme” as far as packaging goes.. like wrapping things so they look like packages, and making the envelopes look like they’ve been mailed and such. I have a vision but it’s not really materializing yet!
Some ideas, thanks to Pinterest:

Maybe I can be of help… as soon as I stop squealing. Up is my favorite movie of all time.
What if you were to put a little stuffed Golden Retriever in there? 🙂

@Baccara: GASP. awwww. That would be soooo cute! The box is aboout.. 8″ long, 5″ tall, and 4″ wide. (I don’t have a ruler so uh. this might be off) so it’d have to be a small Golden retriever.. but aww. I have to ship it to him (we’re long-distance) so I could always include that in the shipping box if nothing else!!
Another thing! He’s currently trying to get on with a police department. So vintagey police stuff would be good too 😉

@julies1949: Oooh that would be cute!
@gogogiraffes: Ahh I would but I don’t think they’d surviive the trip. Huh. Maybe I can ship it to a friend and have them drop it on his doorstep with balloons on it…

I’ve never seen the movie, but if I was making the gift I would include a cool vintage graphic t-shirt, you can roll it up so it’s really small and doesn’t take up much room. My Darling Husband loves getting clothes because he hates shopping, so that’s how I thought of it. I’d also maybe include his favorite candy bar, that’s an inexpensive crowd pleaser.

LOL, my Darling Husband loves to get socks! He seemed really sad he didn’t get more for Christmas, so I would shove some of those in there, haha. He will be happy for Valentine’s day!

what about a little jar with a few coins in it like the jar they had in the movie to save up to go to paradise falls?
and a candy bar or two would be good because that’s what they kept feeding kevin.

Idk how long you’ve been together or if even you could use this idea as a “game” or with memories but I saw this on pinterest and thought of your post.

& The map also reminds me of everything they went through & he continued to go through to get to (where that place was at the end of the movie.)
