Wanted to start a new board for new LI Brides since the ones I’ve seen are very old and probably nobody is checking them anymore :/
So… Long Island Brides getting married in 2010/2011… What are you up to? What great ideas would you like to share? What questions do you have for the hive?
Just share EVERYTHING (Venues, Bridal salons, etc etc) with other LI bees!!

I am getting married at St. John the Baptist in Wading River, reception to follow at Giorgios in Baiting Hollow, on 10/31/10. We are having a masquerade theme, with Eggplant Black(possibly orange) colors, with Jack and Sally Themes here and there.(cake topper). I am not so good at this wedding planning thing, and would appreciate any floral suggestions, since im not very into the whole flower thing. I am using Jack O Lantern Stands, that will hold carved fresh pumpkins, giving the illusion of wrought iron arms and legs, that will be holding a basket of flowers. Please post any suggestions. Trying to be fun with Halloween, but avoid getting tacky!!

You can find some VEEERY good ideas here!! You can ask about the flowers or even start a thread. And since you mentioned the Halloween thing, I’d suggest looking at the Oct 2010 board to get some ideas!
Good Luck!! π

Anyone have hair/makeup and day of planner recommendations for the Riverhead/East End area of LI? Our wedding is in Wading River and we live in Boston so really need suggestions.

Jeez! LI bees we need to make this thread come to life.
So, I’ll share my updates with you: When I started the thread I wasn’t even living in LI (actually, I was in a whole different country!). Planning a wedding form the distance was not easy. We couldn’t even set a date because I needed a visa to come to USA and we didn’t know when were we going to get it. After a few months I finally moved to LI with my now husband.
We decided not to stress ourselves with the worries (mostly about money) of a big wedding in a fancy venue and we ended up having a civil ceremony and small backyard wedding in April.
So, here I am now. I only have my husband’s family now, my family is in Dominican Republic and I can’t wait to go back and visit them! I feel so lonely! I was very independent back in my country and now I just hate not being able to go anywhere or do things by myself π
