Your mom looks adorable and that sweet, sweet fan is killing me.

I think I’d take this in a casual, kind of boho direction.  Keep your hair down, simple necklace, a loose unstructured bouquet, and don’t try to bling it up with a belt.  I’d rock the sleeves but see if you can get rid of the high neck.

Wish you’d post a picture of your dad with 80’s hair!

I can’t quite tell from the picture but you could make the sleeves tighter all the way down so it loses a little of the 80s vibe, and I would suggest if you take it up, do it from the waist became it looks like there is pretty trim on the bottom. I also think keep the lace at the neck but cut it lower and follow whatever the lining neckline is, can’t tell if it scoops or is a V neck.

The veil must be THE 80s veil,  my mom’s wedding in 1986 was the same, with the head piece and all.  I wanted to wear it (sans headpiece) but it was ivory and had gotten even darker with age and my dress was stark white. I love that you’re wearing your mom’s dress.

lol Love those stylish outfits.  I don’t really have any advice, but that’s such an awesome idea to upcycle your mom’s dress.  Make sure you post pics as it comes together and the final product!

Barklarich:  Honestly, dresses like this are a guilty pleasure for me. I love the long sleeves and the high neck. Even though this was 1980, it still has that 70’s “prairie princess” vibe. Maybe go with a slight high/low hem so you don’t lose the train? I’d totally get rid of the head band on the veil and attach it to a flower crown instead.

I love the pic of your Dad. My husband’s prom picture is in a suit like that(he’s older than me). It’s my favorite pic of him, LOL

Barklarich:  Ahhhhhh Adorable! I’m wearing my moms dress too! Just got it cleaned, it’s from 1982. I’m curious to see the answers in this thread because my dress is similar without the high neck, must have been very in 😉

Thought this might be helpful. The dress is similiar, and you can totally see her shoes at this length:

I think sleeves and a neckline like this would look amazing!!!

A tea length bottom with a tulle skirt would look so amazing!!
