the fact that you feel chill and relaxed after smoking weed doesn’t confirm your self-diagnosis of OCD. it just confirms that you smoked weed. If you think you have OCD, then go see a doctor.

Ah, that’s right. Lots of US colleges are finishing up finals and starting winter break right about now, and high schools are only a week or so away. I think a few notorious newbees might come crawling out of the woodwork soon.

Horseradish +1. I am diagnosed with gad, panic disorder, and complex ptsd. The few times I’ve tried to smoke, I had massive panic attacks.

Op, I’m glad you found relief, however, you can ASSUME you have a diagnosis, but you could really have a completely different problem going on.

Get to the doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment

The dinner party has changed. Start time: 4:25pm. Menu: all-you-can-eat barbecue.

In all seriousness though – go to a doctor for a proper diagnosis, rather than attempting to diagnose and treat yourself. I have diagnosed panic disorder, CPTSD, and clinical depression. Marijuana actually does help me manage these, but that is after consulting with my doctor (legal here), not just me trying things out and making assumptions about my mental health.

How does weed fit in with your strict lifestyle?

Honestly, self-medicating is one of the worst things you can do if you have anxiety or mental health issues. It’s a really dangerous idea. It’s much easier to get hooked to things that are normally harder to get hooked on. I know it’s just weed, but most people I know who have self-medicated with weed reached a strange level of dependency that could have probably been better treated professionally. You just don’t want to be in a place where you need it. It just makes things worse.

FWIW, I live in a state where it’s legal and am pro legal weed. I just really don’t think you should self-medicate in lieu of going to the doctor. You may even have a doctor who can teach you how to manage it with weed. It’s just better to have professional help. Because as it stands, you aren’t treating anything. You’re just getting stoned.

sablescorpion22 :   There are many states that allow the sale of weed for recreational use. Also laws vary by state on what medical conditions can be treated using marijuana. OCD does have proven results when using THC  as it is related to anxiety disorders.
