Thanks so much for your earlier input bees! I spoke with my DOC and she recommended 2 other photographers, and now I’m just more confused! These 2 are actually both more than the first photographer, and I don’t know enough about photography to know if their pics are even any better. Please check out the links to all 3 and let me know what you think!!
Photog #1: the original who thinks it’s ok to leave 2 hours before the reception is over, and bees said her pics are too blurry and without any candids: http://www.ellencohnphotography.com/
Photog #2: Great reviews on theknot.com of the photographer being an awesome person. Are her pics awesome too?? http://www.jlowephotos.com/
Photog #3: All I have heard is that my DOC recommends her. Thoughts? http://www.kathyweddings.com/

I think I like #3 the best, then #2. I’m not a fan of the style of #1 – the photos are too posed, not spontaneous enough.

I like number 2, however I didnt give #3 a fair chance. I click out of any site that loads with music. Just a pet peeve.

I like #2 better.
Have you told your planner what your budget is? We had trouble finding a photog with great photos in our price range too, so I emailed my dream photog, who was about 2.5x our budget and asked her for a recommendation of someone who she knew/had worked with with a similar style to hers but who was still trying to break into the business.
She sent us a few names, and one of them quickly became our photographer.
Yes, she is less experienced, but she takes really great pictures, and we scored an AMAZING package with her (under budget + extra stuff we didn’t expect) because she was very willing to work with us. We did our e-shoot with her a few weeks ago and were thrilled with the pictures we got, and are confident going into the wedding.
One thing about working with a ‘younger’ photog that I realized is that she’s very open to me being like, “Here are specific things I want” and she’ll do them, even if she’s never done a shot like that before. She seems to see it as a chance to diversify her portfolio, which I’m cool with. I have a whole folder of “pictures I want” haha, inspiration stuff I’ve saved here on WB, and I’ll print them off (probably 4 to a page) and give them to her with our “Must have” list. 🙂

Thanks for your help so far! I added a poll because that seems to get people to respond, and I’m desperately seeking help!

I would go with the third just judging the styles. I think she has a good eye. Are there large differences in price? Have any of them photographed at your location before? Do any of them offer engagement sessions or to do bridal portraits? If you are that undecided – look at the extras that are offerred – maybe that will put one of them over the edge.
