Did you know your SO in high school but didn't date?
So, I went home to visit today, and let my brother do some work on my car. I was swiping through Tinder while I was there, wondering if HS guy was on there, too, and he was.
So, I grew some balls and sent him a FB message: “So, I’m home for the day visiting family, and I got bored so I started flipping through Tinder, and guess whose face came across my screen? lol I haven’t ever seen anyone I know on there! Have you had any luck on it?”
Even though it was 11:30, he answered almost right away, and said, “You’re single?” haha So I said, “Yep. You’d think in a city of 2 million people, I’d have better odds, huh?” To which he replied, “I’ll take you out 🙂 ” I said, “I’ll hold you to that the next time I come home!”
We had a few more short messages, but it looks like I have a date in a couple of weeks! I wasn’t planning on going home again so soon, but now I will 🙂

I missed your original post, but I actually reconnected with and went out with three guys I had known back in college! (Thanks Facebook!) One I had a huge crush on and was super excited when we ran into each other (our kids had soccer practice at the same field, lol). Anyway he had never grown up, still lived at home and was super flaky. We talked a lot and went out once or twice. Nice guy but so many issues. The second was very weird and erratic, we went out once and had fun, but he would just disappear randomly. I met up with a third while out of town, we had both just been through breakups and hung out a few times but neither of us were up for anything long distance. It was an interesting experience! I definitely was a late bloomer so it was cool to finally date my crush, but that was about all it was good for!
good luck op!!

I should probably tone it down a bit, but I’m actually pretty excited about getting together with him! Dating has been RIDICULOUSLY difficult for me ever since I moved to this city 12 years ago, and I kind of feel that small town guys have less drama and are more relationship oriented than big city guys. (He even has the Wants To Find Someone To Marry box checked on his POF profile.) Neither one of us has kids, and his POF said he was “Undecided/Open” with regards to desires for kids, which is a plus to me because I don’t want kids (we’re 38/39 years old), and prefer to date men that don’t have any. He’s a non-smoker, which is a non-negotiable for me. He’s a homeowner, and very handy (he built his home and did a lot of the work in himself). He has a clean criminal record (I checked the local court website, as I always do. You’d be surprised at how at least half the guys I check out to date in this big city have *many* multiple speeding tickets, no seat belt, public intox, etc type offenses.)
So over all, he ticks more check boxes on my list than most guys I’ve dated over the last 10 years! And did I mention that he’s EXTREMELY attractive? I don’t find many men my age attractive anymore, because I prefer boyish looking men, and it’s rare to find them at age 39/40. So when I see someone that I’m very physically attracted to, it kind of shocks me these days.
Obviously I know that way more goes into a good match than all that, lol, but it’s a pretty good start! Better than any of the guys I’ve dated recently. So, I’m excited. I know that if it were to go anywhere, I’d have to think about the fact that he lives 2 hours and 45 minutes away from me, but there’s no reason to worry about that right now. I’m just excited to go on a date with someone different, that actually seems excited to go on a date with me! (Most guys are so “chill” and indifferent these days. God forbid someone show a little excitement to meet a girl!)

This is so great!! I love that you let him ask you out, but that you initiated the conversation. That’s totally how I would’ve done it too! 🙂
He sounds wonderful, but try not to have too high of expectations for it. Enjoy yourself!
