A couple months ago I asked for advice about whether or not upstairs laundry should be a deciding factor in choosing a house… http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/basement-laundry-vs-upstairs-laundry-room
I just wanted to update in case anyone else is wondering about this. We ended up with the bigger house with upstairs laundry, and I’ve gotta say, now that we have a baby, I am SO GRATEFUL we chose the house with upstairs laundry. Baby is constantly spitting up, having poopy blowouts, etc. and it is SO NICE to be able to toss dirty stuff straight into the washer. We didn’t choose this house just for the laundry alone, but oh my gosh, it is so awesome!!!

SO’s rental has a laundry room upstairs and it is such a blessing, that feature will definitely be on my wish list for our future home together. I love not having to lug dirty or clean clothes up multiple levels! I can imagine how useful it is with a baby, too.

Ive never lived in a house with an upstairs laundry. It was always in the basement of a 2 or 3 story home. How I would love to not have to climb soo many steps with a full hamper one day.

Glad it’s working out for you! I’m jealous. 🙂
Moving our laundry area from the main floor to the bedroom floor is definitely on my wish list. I think it is such an asset for small kids and for us as we age. We plan to stay in our house until we’re dead, so I can see a time in our future when it becomes a real safety risk to walk up and down stairs with baskets of laundry in our hands.

We just moved into a 3 story townhouse with laundry on the top floor where the bedrooms are – I can’t even FATHOM having bought one of the other units that has laundry in the garage on the 1st floor now!

So glad it’s working out. I had this growing up and we all hated it due to the noise. We couldn’t do laundry at night because it would keep us all awake.
Now our laundry is in our garage, (one story house), and we love the arrangement.

@Meowkers: It probably depends on the machines and room insulation. I’m a really light sleeper, but neither our washer or dryer keep me awake. Glad your arrangement is working out.
@lovekiss: Yeah, the house is working out great! I wasn’t sure at first, but now that we knocked out a wall, fenced the yard, painted, and added crown molding to some rooms, I LOVE it! I love the extra space, the garage, the fireplace, the sweet master bath, and they yard, but my FAVORITE is the laundry, lol!
