Don’t pay him any more money! He should’ve done it right the first time, and you shouldn’t have to pay for his mistake!!
Tell him he needs to make it right (and not charge you any more!), or you’ll complain to the BBB. Also, if you haven’t already, DISPUTE THE CREDIT CARD CHARGE! He shouldn’t get the money until the ring is right!
If the $600 was a guarantee, then maybe it would be worth it to just pay it, but it’s not a guarantee. You could end up in the same position you’re currently in, but out another $600. Please, please, please don’t make the same mistake again!!

@sugarcube: I would probably just pay the money, too. I agree with Mrs.ChubbyBunny. Go over it carefully. Put it on (wax mold) and make sure it’s exactly what you want. Bring him more pictures, maybe the ones NapaBride is going to give you.

You need to tell him that the approval of the wax was ON THE CONDITION of fixing the ring, which he didn’t do. Therefore, he WILL fix your ring and you are NOT paying for it.
I don’t understand why he was going to charge you for another wax mold when HE is the one that got it wrong in the first place!

I got a PM from Richard at mycustomjeweler.com saying that he has had a negative impact on his business due to my negative posts regarding custom jewelry. I just wanted to clarify that he is NOT the jeweler i worked with, and have never done business with him. The company I went through was a brick and mortar store in CT

@sugarcube: Uh-oh, that’s not good. I might send a PM to one of the hostesses and ask if you could have that statement added to your OP! Most people won’t read all the way through four pages of comments. That’s so sad that you’ve accidentally affected his business. 🙁
