UPDATE: We are leaving for dinner at 6:20 EST. :):))))) I got my massage already (see related post haha), I already have my outfit picked out, lol. I just hope I look good in the lighting if I need a pic taken haha (I have been breaking out ever since I had to take (systemic) steroids for an asthma flare up a few weeks back ugh). Excited, but having a bit of anxiety at the same time. I have a feeling it might happen during dinner (ok and I feel super crappy for even hoping it would have been something besides a (generic?? :/) dinner proposal since he has had 4 years to plan something e.g., picnic, hot air balloon, any of our vacations…:/), but I am seriously having anxiety/stress. First off, I already pretty much know that it probably will happen today so I won’t be the girl who screams in surprise, nor will I be the girl to scream how beautiful the ring is (I picked out everything about the ring, lol, I KNOW it looks good haha). Are people going to see my reaction and think “that bitch isn’t even excited” haha. Am I over analyzing all of this? Should I take a Xanax??? LOL Help!! How do I relax??I have been waiting so long for this and didn’t really think I would be feeling stressed out.

Good luck! I picked out the ring and was like 70% sure it was coming that night and STILL I was shaking and marveling at the ring and in disbelief… Just take a few deep breaths and enjoy it!!! 😀

Don’t chemically alter yourself for this moment you have waited a long time for. Just let it flow, enjoy it and Fiance will be thrilled too!

You’re waaay over analyzing this! I sooo hope it happens tonight! LET it happen! And you don’t know if he WILL propose at dinner. Maybe he wants to go for a little walk or something afterwards! When it happens is still a mystery so I think you’ll be overwhelmed with happiness and won’t give two shites what other people around are thinking.

This was me the day of my FI’s proposal. It was valentines day and I was at the point of “if he doesn’t I’ll be pissed”.. and he didn’t… during dinner… so I drank.. and then when we got home I had to pee really REALLY bad.. but he wouldn’t let me and he blindfolded me n brought me to the dining room where there was a surprise set up then he proposed.
My reaction? Yes, now can I pee?
… as long as you don’t react like that- I think you’re fine. lol

Just BREATHE! I thought I knew how I would react when he proposed, and boy was I wrong!

I know the feeling! Although he doesn’t know this, my mom actually slipped up and told me he came to ask for my hand the weekend before we went on a vacation which led to me finding out he was going to do it while we were gone! He didn’t do it the first night we were there like I’d hoped so I was anticipating it the entire time! He had a private dinner set up in our suite and the power went out in the middle of it. The waiter lit the candles around the jacuzzi but it was still pretty dark. When he did ask I was thinking omg what do I do?!?! So, I just put my head in my hands! Partially b/c I knew he had tried so hard to be sweet and surprise me only to have the power go out after there had already been so many other things that pushed it back but also b/c I’m terrible at pretending to be surprised! Good luck though!

My SO is taking me out to a fancy restaurant Friday night and I have to keep reminding myself not to get too excited. I know mine probably won’t propose, but I’m excited to hear if yours does! 🙂

@Lulume: Unless she’s the type to get overly-talkative or emotional when drinking, then stick to something else soothing like tea!

@mayflowerbride13: I got quite a laugh out of this! Story of my life is always peeing.
Get a glass of whine and breathe. Good luck!
