1. Conventional wisdom seems to dictate that you should avoid holiday proposals, JUST IN CASE your relationship doesn’t last and it ends up ruining all your Christmases forever. Happened to someone on here

2. If you don’t like surprises and it’s giving you actual anxiety, then your bf needs to respect your needs. Decide if you want to forgo the “surprise” element and have a serious talk about your bf re knowing when you will receive the ring. If he really wants to plan something grand and special, work out a compromise.

3. I only had to “wait” half a day to receive the ring, since my FH proposed ASAP. He contemplated waiting a week for a more romantic opportunity, but didn’t want to deprive me of an extra week of showing off the ring and calling him my fiance. Bear in mind that your Boyfriend or Best Friend (FH, really) is all in, the ring is just a piece of jewelry. You’re just as engaged now as you will be once you have the ring. Think of it as your juicy little secret. It was kind of fun for me to be cagey about our upcoming “formal” engagement.
