tommywantwingy :  I totally understand. I just wanted to point that out for others who may be reading this post and worrying if they’re thin it automatically means they’ll have a hard time getting or staying pregnant. 

Eta- my primary physician also “ruled out a thyroid issue”  I ended up going to see a naturopath who did further testing beyond TSH and found that I did in fact have low T4 levels. For me, that’s likely what contributed to my lack of a “normal” cycle

Just like you, I had very random periods before going on BC and after I came off. My cycles after coming off BC lasted between 40 and 90 days. After 8 months of trying with only 3 periods, I saw my OB and he said every test came back normal. The month before I was going to try clomid, I became pregnant naturally. I had a wonderful pregnancy (only gained 22 lbs) and had gave birth to a healthy 6 lb 3 oz boy.


It’s definitely possible. Don’t get too discouraged. Take the advice you see fit and keep in communication with your Dr.

Lifting weight WILL help you gain overall weight if you continue to eat all the calorie-dense food you say you’re eating/drinking.

For one, it DRASTICALLY increases your appetite. I’m naturally thin (think skeletor), and it’s mostly because I just don’t have an appetite and forget to eat. Since starting to lift weights, that is absolutely not an issue anymore. I wake up hungry now. It’s much easier to force food down your gullet when you’re actually hungry!

The other thing is that lifting heavy weight really does not burn nearly as many calories as cardio or HIIT. Not nearly as much as people seem to think it does. NO ONE lifts heavy weights in order to lose weight. Lifting heavy weight is PURELY for gaining weight. Experienced weight lifters BULK with a serious weight lifting regimen and then start adding in cardio and HIIT to help them lose weight before a comp.

After 2 years of heavy lifting and eating well – high fat, whole foods, etc., I reached my all time body weight high of 115 (up from my usual 100) last year. I gained muscle AND fat.

When I wanted to shave some of the fat off, I lowered the weight I was lifting, increased reps, added in HIIT, and reduced portion size.

By eating more and better AND lifting heavy weight, you will A) gain weight faster, B) LOOK better than if you were just eating more and better, and C) FEEL much much much better.
