I didn’t think I’d get the moment, but I totally did. I want everyone out there who is searching for a dress, when you find it, you will know. You will get the moment and it will feel right. You’ll feel beautiful in it and that will be the one.
I tried on so many more dresses than I even have pictures of. First, I went with Fiance to New York Bride & Groom in Charlotte. Then, I went with a friend/coworker to David’s Bridal just to get a better idea of what I wanted. Then, I came to NY and invited everyone – 3 of my bridesmaids came, my mom, my Future Mother-In-Law, and my mom invited 2 family friends who have known me since I was a kid. It was a pretty big group, but everyone agreed on their fave dresses for the most part. There was a top contender from each of the 2 salons I went. But, I felt really anxious and couldn’t make a decision and was stressing over it. Everyone kept telling me that I’d know.
So the next day, I went with just my mom and dad and we went to some boutiques in Brooklyn. The first one we went to had “the one” – it was the second one I tried on there. It had NOTHING that I wanted – no lace or ruffles, nothing super unique, no special detailing, no straps, nothing. But for some reason, I felt like a queen in it. This dress is the Jennifer dress by Palazzo.
HOWEVER – my Maid/Matron of Honor, my mom and some others think another dress I tried on was better on me. I do think the dress is beautiful, but I didn’t feel as beautiful in it – it’s the 4256 by Paloma Blanca.
What do you ladies think? Which dress is prettier/more flattering?
Palazzo (doesn’t come with the sash, but I would probably get one):
Also, I am having a beach wedding, fun romance is my theme. The ceremony will be on the beach, at sunrise. The reception will be in the evening. I am planning on wearing my hair down in the morning and hair up in the evening for the reception. I was planning on getting a 2nd dress, a cocktail dress in white, to change into – BUT, both dresses are pretty light and airy. They’re not heavy and neither would be a problem for the beach. I love both the look of ruffles on the beach and a fancy/elegant dress on the beach, as well. I honestly think any wedding dress suits the beach unless it’s super heavy of long sleeves.
Ok – so which dress would you get if you were me?
ETA: The Palazzo is a mermaid dress and a bit too long on me, however, they’re going to take my measurements, including my height, and make it so that the mermaid portions falls on me the way it’s supposed to – the saleslady said it will be just a tad bit too long so that I will still have to hem it, but much closer to where it should be than the sample.
