@echolove:  I don’t really have any constructive advice to add, but I’ve been keeping up with your story from the first post. I really hope everything works out for you and your fiance.

@echolove:  I’m going to post this as if you’re in the US (I’m sorry if you said and I missed it!)… look up your county or local “community action agency”.  They are basically centers to help for all kinds of things.  They are non-profits but federally funded so they may not have much now (summer has less programs and funds) but should be able to direct you to other resources if they can’t help.  They typically have programs for housing, heating/cooling, family planning, child care, and sometimes classes for a variety of coaching classes (managing money, child care, self respect, abuse survivors, a variety really, it just depends on the center).

Definitely ask them about housing.  Even shelters if you have to… any step up is in the right direction… just keep stepping up!  Ask them about other resources, they are usually pretty connected to other agencies and know who can help with what and how funds are generally and steer you in the right direction.  They likely can tell you who to contact for counselling help too.  Or at least the next place to start asking at.

If you haven’t already apply for food stamps!  You don’t even need an address if you apply in person.  That will free up some money for housing and help with food if nothing else!  The caseworkers here can likely direct you to some agencies that could help too!
