I saw a mailman this morning walking around doing his thing, so I figured it should be okay too! 🙂

I totally got a package waiting for me at the post office. I hope they agree to something quickly.

Although, I heard it’s not about money, so…. what’s it about? Anyone know?

from what is on the news here, ia big factor is that the employer wants to take away their sick days (which are paid) and replace it with short term disability (which may not be paid or is only a percentage)

@.twist.:

I think it is about the fact that the contracts they negotiated for permanent workers back in 08 is not going to be carried over past retirement of the now permanent workers to the temps who will be replacing them?(fyi – government job permanent = permanent until retirement, temp = contract based worker ie: you work a 3, 6 or 9 month contract before it goes up for renewal).

Not 100% sure on that though. I’ll have to chat up my partner’s auntie since she’s a postie and should be in the know.

It’s been all over the news all weekend and today. The government legislated an end to the lockout. The government was so heavy handed they even gave them less of a wage increase than Canada Post actually offered them in their opening offer.

Mail sorting started this afternoon shift. Mail delivery will start tomorrow.

@julies1949: Oh awesome thanks!! We don’t have a TV right now so I was lost on the strike. I was hearing people talk about it but it seemed like no one knew what was happening so this is great!
