So I had the procedure two weeks ago yesterday. I did it as an outpatient and it really wasn’t that bad. It’s pretty much a coloposcopy that lasts a little bit longer but you are all numbed up so you don’t feel anything. The machine was loud but my doctor chatting with me during the procedure to let me know what was going on and keep me calm. The set up took about 5-10 minutes but the procedure itself only took a minute or two. He then had to cauterize the site and then the nurses had to check my blood pressure until it dropped back down to a more normal level.
I got my results yesterday and it was CIN 3 which was the best possible scenario. Unfortunately, he couldn’t see clear margins so although he thinks he got it all, I have to go back every 3 months for the next year and a half for repeat paps to make sure.
On the brightside, that leads up right up to the month we were ultimately planning to start TTC so I feel like I am getting first class service pre-TTC. Since I will be getting regular checkups until then I have plenty of chances to ask questions and monitor my weightloss.
