I wanted to give you an update on Justin’s condition and tell you again how much your support means to both of us.
Justin’s condition is currently stable, about the same as it was yesterday. His brain injury seems to have stabalized but they contine to monitor it closely. Sadly, the parts of his brain that are damaged already will likely cause serious impairment, the extent of which we won’t know for a while.
He will need surgery on his broken leg and a tracheostomy in the next few days if things remain stable. After that, we will just have to wait and see how he does. We don’t know if he will be able to breathe on his own without the machine or how much he will be aware of.
Thank you again for your kind words. We are still hoping for a miracle, but at this point I would be happy even if he could open his eyes just for a moment. I love him so much.
ETA: Some of you may know we’ve been TTC. I’m in my TWW right now and I must admit I am letting myself wonder “what if I was”. I’m trying not to let myself think about it too much. Right now it’s all about Justin.

Stable is good.
I dont know if you saw the stories of people who not only survive but thrive after serious brain injuries, but they are there.
Be positive and we will be supportive of you always.

@Macintosh: I’ve been thinking & praying for you and your husband. I just want to say that I know a few people who have had brain injuries. I won’t go into detail, but for one of them in particular, they were so sure at first that she wouldn’t recover. It was a very long road, but she made a full recovery. It can happen! I’ll keep praying for you both & your families.
